Bridgestone Tour B XW-1 Wedges

When we look back on the 2018 crop of wedges, we can say one thing for certain: it was a very good year.

We've seen some pretty interesting wedge releases this year, from the Hogan Equalizer to the PING Glide Forged, it seems virtually everyone has given your short game something to lust after.

Bridgestone's Tour B XW-1 has been around since January, and at just $99, it joins Hogan as a forged wedge bargain.

TESTERS WANTED:

Does the Tour B XW-1 (and ain't that a mouthful!) deserve a spot in this year's wedge conversation? We're looking for 4 of you to help us find out.

We need four of you to test, review and keep a 3-wedge set of satin-finish Bridgestone Tour B XW-1 wedges.

This review opportunity is for right-handed golfers only (sorry lefties) and, as per OEM guidelines, open to US golfers only (sorry rest of the planet).

Eric. / New Jersey

Golfsmith tour cavity forged 48/3 60 degree lie. Oproject x 6.5 steel shafts made to -1” in length D-6 swing weight. Ping cord grip men's standard no wraps just adhesive layer.

Wishon 52/08 bent to 53/07 and 56/10 bent to 58/12 both clubs 60 degree lie. Both clubs have KBS tour stiffs in them made to 35.5” on the 53 and 35 on the 58. Both these grips are Iomic sticky 1.8 men's standard. No additional build up just adhesive layer.

I have been a master club maker for twenty years and where these specs are is from.a lot of experimentation. Longer, shorter, heavier, lighter, up right, flat, add loft, take loft off etc. etc. one of the most obvious things about my set up that I'm sure most will notice is that my 53,58 have softer shaft in them than what is in my wedge (which matches the rest of my iron set). The reasoning is that I don't really for swing those wedges a whole lot but I really need to be able to feel the shaft bend even in a half swing and found that that made a huge difference for me in being able to hit the middle of the face as much as possible which to me helps an awful lot with distance control.

I own a mevo launch monitor as well as work at one of the best fitting studios in New Jersey that has Trackman so I have access to being able to produce a lot of data to back up testing.

I do hope my experience will win you over, and you will choose me as a tester. Hope to hear back. If not, play well either way. ThAnks.

Mike in Ohio here.

My current set of wedges are both Vokey SM5's, rocking a black 54/10 and 58/08.  Both are two degrees upright, +1/2" and shafted with some DGS300's.

If chosen, I'd love to get a similar set up in some of the sweet looking chromed out Tour B XW-1's.  Love the clean look and the way they use the badging to weight those bad boys!

Thanks MGS for letting us normal guys get a shot at testing new gear!
