2018 PGA Championship

Heck, why not. My least favorite major of them all. But the last couple have provided some riveting golf. I will do some research about the course, and The Who's who at the PGA Championship and post in here later. Only 3 and a half weeks left till tee off.

It is turning out to be a great season!

100th PGA, should come with all sorts of commemorative bags, ball markers, and maybe some more club releases?

Who ya got?

Anyone else think that the PGA should alternate from US soil to abroad every other year? Could add to the allure?

Yes!! Currently it is the most boring (IMHO) major even worse than the Player's. They should go to some beautiful unheard of courses in other countries. They need to do something!!

I think the move to May will help it tremendously. Currently it is an afterthought after the Open Championship, which has it's own history and allure. But currently the PGA Championship is simply another regular tournament with an exemption to age 60 added on and 5 year exemptions into all the other majors to make it a "major".

Bellerive has some interesting history. But I'll just refrain from picking a winner, for fear or upsetting the Tiger worshippers who are already saying that he came so close at Carnoustie that it's his turn in St. Louis, where he'll lap the field this time.

Just wait for it....it's Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger, ad infinitum....

Yes, the move to May should help but it just doesn't have the same history as the other majors.

I don't think Tiger will win. He might win a few more times and maybe a major but he will never be the same as he was before his hiatus.

I don't really want him to win either. While he has been great for the game and helped expand it. It will be good for the game for him to win but I just don't care for him.

I will take DJ or Day to win.

I don't necessarily think Tiger will win the PGA. His shot at a major just passed this afternoon.

We'll see how he fairs at the Bridgestone.

But I'd put my money on Rickie for the PGA. It is similar to the PGA in 2014 at Valhalla where he played lights out. Just has that feel to it for him to get it done finally.

The PGA Championship is certainly not the equal of the other majors, but it is a major that has a history of first-time major winners.  I kind of like that.

Koepka ruined my prediction at the beginning of the year.  I predicted that all four majors this year would be won by first-time major winners.

This year it will be Tiger, Tiger, and Tiger with a bunch of Spieth winning the career grand slam.  Someone will fly under the radar to snatch it.  Hope it's Rickie or Kuch.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

I know they won't do it, but I'd love to see it go back to match play. Do something to give it an identity. But I'll still watch, no matter what.

I'd love to see Kuchar win it.

I'm not as hot on the PGA this year. For the 100th to have it as a course as bleh as Bellerive seems very underwhelming. However, next year, an mid May date on Long Island at Bethpage... oh boy is that gonna be something weird and wild. Gotta try and snag tickets to that.

Bellerive hosted the 1965 US Open, won by Gary Player, as well as the 1992 PGA Championship, won by Nick Price, along with many other tournaments of national significance.

Just curious what makes Bellerive "bleh" and "very underwhelming" to you?

Simple, Parkland style golf, long par 4's, nothing memorable about the layout in my opinion. If you're having the 100th of something, it should be on a course that brings memories and history with it. 100th US Open, Pebble Beach, 100th Open, Royal Birkdale (my second favorite course in the rota), 100th PGA, Bellerive? It doesn't fit. Just because a course has champions with names doesn't make it good or interesting.

I think Whistling Straights would have been a good venue for the 100th.

Not a bad choice, I was thinking just move Bethpage up. PGA was founded in NYS, 100th should be here. However, two majors in NYS in a year isn't great and we're getting the 105th PGA at Oak Hill plus the 2024 Ryder Cup at Bethpage... which will be a spectacle onto itself.

Sure, let's just move all future majors to New York and New Jersey.  Those are the only areas where there are worthy golf courses anyway.  We'll play Winged Foot every year, and Baltusrol every other year.  And if you can figure out a way to get them to play a PGA at Pine Valley, I'm all for it.

I don't think you understood my point, so I guess I can make it clearer. I believe that in honor of this being a landmark event it would be nice if they had hosted it in the spot where the PGA was founded, nothing more, nothing less. It would be a nice circular way to celebrate the founding of the PGA.

I personally believe that "ATM" (Kuchar) prefers his nickname of "Mr Top 10." He continues to show up in majors, and cash major checks, and will probably never win one. But he's a likeable guy who smiles all the time. I just think he smiles because he's thinking, "I can't believe people pay me to play this game. Man, do I have them snowed."
