Golfspy_CG2
Well after this performance... I wouldn't put it past JT to have a repeat. When is the last time there were repeat winners of different majors? They mentioned it during The Open Championship when Spieth was leading after three rounds. I don't remember when it was. But it wasn't as long ago as you think. Maybe the yeara Harrington won back to back, Tiger won the Masters those two years ? Unless you consider 1928/29 not long ago. Ha. Just looked it up Walter Hagen won The Open Championship and Leo Diegel won the PGA both years for his only 2 Majors. downlowkey
I will do some research about the course, and The Who's who at the PGA Championship and post in here later. Only 3 and a half weeks left till tee off. Since we are down to 3 days, I figured it was time to share this comprehensive architecture and strategy flyover of Bellerive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTpwPXhv6Q4 The bird's-eye view provides additional perspective on what players are facing during the event and could theoretically help you organize a winning Wilson #SpyStaffSlam PGA Championship roster. bardle
No love for Poulter or Rosie? I'm considering changing my pick to Rose. I picked him for the last one and he ended up in 2nd. He's not gonna be one to go 7 under through 9 like DJ just did, but he is extremely consistent. I have Rory right now but I just dont think his game is consistent enough right now to win. revkev
I think Whistling Straights would have been a good venue for the 100th. I would agree but it could never happen. Whistling has the next Ryder Cup - it only hosted PGAs to get a Ryder Cup. It was built to host a US Open. It's happy to be done with the PGA and hoping that experience hasn't tarnished its reputation to the point that it won't host a US Open some day. I used to live in the area and knew lots of the major players (including upper level management types at Kohler and at the resort properties) involved in those negotiations. Bellerive doesn't excite me but it has some history and it's a pretty typical PGA type course. Similar to Firestone - courses built in the 50's and 60's were just that way. It has its place. Having a reachable par 5 17th could lead the an exciting finish. revkev
Well this should be a fun week... IMG_3649.PNG I saw this - it's not the first time and I'm sure one of the reasons for the switch to May. Who out there remembers when they played the tournament at PGA National, in August. It was pre Nicklaus redesign. But it was brutal - the only way you don't get 92 and 80 percent humidity in Palm Beach in August is if there's a tropical system and then you aren't playing golf. Larry Nelson won at -1. He beat Lanny Wadkins in a playoff. It was a miracle no one died. SteddyGolf
Golf ðŸŒï¸ much like baseball is rather boring to watch for many people. I have a few ideas to liven up the broadcast without making wholesale rules changes. 1. Have a different player in the tournament introduce each hole along with his strategy for that specific whole. 2. Mic up the leaders and or the group of the day. Have them interact with Feherty real time as they navigate the course. 3. Utilize shot tracer to a greater extent. 4. Present player profiles throughout the broadcast. Ensure you capture their passions on and off the course. 5. Prerecord golfers putting on and talking about each green. This could be shown as the group is walking to their putts or green side shots. 6. Quick walk along interviews after each hole, “great putt Rory, what did you see?†The producers and more importantly the golfers have to make a commitment to improving the broadcast. The leave me alone I'm busy attitude of most players does not help to make a connection between the player and the fan. You have to close that gap. My father use to love Golf. He also loved watching it on tv. I'm convinced he loved to tune in because it meant a great nap was soon to happen. You could always hear him snoring over the roar of the crowd. I hate it in the NFL, NBA and MLB, I don think we need it in Golf. I like what Bones has brought to the broadcast with on course commentary about his experience. Wouldn't mind seeing a few more caddies in a similar role. Maybe ones who's guy missed the cut. Give them a chance to earn a few $$$ on the weekend and they would have first hand knowledge of the challenges the courses presented. Shankster
Just put a pokestop at every green... there will be millions of people there. I'm kidding that is a terrible idea. How about the old trading cards? I used to collect baseball and football cards. And saw some golf cards.... maybe they still make them. Also, they need to televise the long drive competitions, and parts of the practice round for sure.
