Golf Glove Routine

I put my glove on at the start of play and, except for a behind the bush/tree break or a mustard and ketchup rich hot dog at the turn (not often), it stays on the entire round.  I see the pros taking them on and off between shots and not wearing them while putting.  Seems like a lot of wasted motion to me  . I've tried putting without it on and it feels odd to me. What's your golf glove routine and why?

I take it off between every shot. In MN the summers are usually HOT so it cools my hand and and dries the sweat. If I leave the glove on the whole time it will be soaked with sweat by the 4th hole. I also find that it has become part of my preshot routine and helps me commit to the shot. For putting it takes all of the feel with my left hand out of the putting stroke. I don't need it for grip so I would rather have the feel.

 

P.S. I write left handed but play right handed so I would have to take the glove off to write my score after the hole anyway.

I only have the glove on when taking shots. It stays dry and cleaner longer than if worn continuously for 4 hours. Not sure why I am on and off with the glove But 40 years of habit would probably be the best explanation.

Mine only comes off during putting, or when I'm around the green. Sometimes when I'm walking, I'll take it off after tee shots when it's exceptionally hot outside.

I usually wear 2 gloves and leave them on all round. I only take them off when using the bathroom or snack shop

If I remember to I remove my glove when I putt. Or if I have a long wait between shots I'll take it off for a few minutes. Otherwise it stays on.

Losen it after every dhot. Somr dsys when real hot I wikl take it off between shots. Off for putting and anything less than full swings.

I've never played with a glove... until this year.  Well, almost true; when I traveled to a hot humid area I used a glove.  Here in hot dry conditions I don't need one.  Well one day, playing in the morning on a 100º day, it was very humid until the water from irrigation evaporated, so I put on a glove.  I wore it for the entire round.  The next round I decided to put it on only when hitting full shots and not wear it when pitching, chipping and putting.  That lasted about two holes; I ended up playing several holes with the glove in my back pocket.  So now, as long as it's hot, I will wear the glove for the entire round.  When it cools off again, I'll likely go back to no glove.

At the start of each hole I put it on. Like GB13 mentioned above, I see it as part of my routine and “committing” to the shot.

When heading to my ball after each stroke I tend to undo the velcro but still leave the glove on.

I usually take my glove off once on the green but sometimes forget. Lately been taking it off for chips/greenside shots to get more of a feel with my wedges.

Same boat here also on hit humid and rainy days it stays dryer for me.

Glove is always off for putting and at least loosened if not off between shots. Even with that, in the summer I need to have two gloves with me to keep from sweating through them.

Normally take it off after every shot unless it's cold. Normally it's pretty hot in the summer so I find the glove gets soaked if I keep it on all the time.

Plus I avoid the fantastic glove tanline on my hand!

I only put it on for my shots. I don't use a glove for any of my wedge shots even full wedge shots.

Summertime= high humidity here so the glove stays on all of the time. I do unfasten the velcro between shots to keep it loose and breathe, also probably change it out at least twice during 18. I attached the used glove to a velcro strip on my cart to let it dry out.

I put it on on the first tee, and take it off after we finish the 18th hole.  Seems like a complete waste of time to take the glove on and off constantly.  Also, taking it on and off constantly stretches the glove to where you'll wear it out quicker (my opinion only - no need to debate me on this one because it's just what I believe).

 

Also, since it is a sauna down here in Florida during the summer, and you'll sweat through a glove in like 30 minutes, I wear a rain glove.  Yeah, it looks stupid, and the feel is not the same, but it's the best I can do considering that I come off the course soaked head to toe, and dripping in sweat anyway.

Glove is on loose until I start the pre shot routine, then cinching it up after placing the ball on the tee while picking a target.

I open and close it before every shot as part of the routine and have never wore one putting and started taking it off while chipping.

 

I usually rotate between a couple gloves as I sweat a bit and try to keep them somewhat dry.

Way too Hot and humid here in SC to leave the glove on. I take it on and off throughout the round, usually don't putt with it on, but on occasion I don't take it off for putting. I will usually rotate through 2-3 gloves in a round because of sweat. I will use a pc of Velcro and attach to the cart so it can dry faster.

I'll undo the velcro and roll the bottom up a bit after I put my club back in my bag because I sweat a ridonkulous amount whether I walk or ride no matter the temperature and remove it when I'm inside 80 yards for partial shots and putting.

 

I find it helps me flip the switch in my brain to "go time" when I do up my glove and grab my club. As a kid when I bowled my coach had us set our towel down on a table and we could go around and socialize, but once we picked up the towel and approached the lane, it was time to refocus

I used to be a glove on and never take it off until the round ends guy.  When I quit smoking a year and a half ago, I have become the type of golfer to take it off after every shot and never wear it while putting.  Right after I quit I would fidget with the glove.  Constantly taking it on and off and messing with the velcro.  It was kind on my crutch to keep me from thinking about lighting up.  Now it has just become habit and happens without even thinking about it.

My gloves last a long time here where the climate is dry and hot. Throughout my golf career I've gone/played with and without a glove for extended periods of time. Currently I'm in the glove wearing mode. Have been for probably 5 years now. I only wear MG gloves - usually the Elite model. I wear a glove from tee to green - taking it off to putt. That's it.
