Nike RZN Platinum

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knew if the Nike RZN ball was purchased by anyone after Nike left the business. I used to play it religiously except for the 20xi edition. Is there any ball that would compare that I could try out?

I'm playing the Pro V1 and the Wilson FG Tour ball at the moment. Both are good enough just miss playing the Platinum version of the Nike ball from time to time.

While it's not the platinum I have liked the TP5x when I've played them. I still have 3 dozen platinums to play but when those are gone I am gonna be a sad man

TP5 is probably the most similar in terms of feel and performance

I know there were a lot of the Nike fanboys over on WRX hoarding dozens on top of dozens of them when they were discounted on closeout. One guy had pics of the 100 dozen he purchased. Personally I can not honestly comment on them good or bad because I do not recall ever hitting one

I guess I just don't understand hording a certain ball. I understand about liking a certain ball,, but every OEM comes out with new stuff every year. I just try a few and play the one I like the best that year. Right now, I'm playing TM Project (a's). If I find a pro v on the course.... I'll play it until I lose it. To me, tour balls are tour balls. As long as it has a urethane cover, I'll play it.

Oh, I'm not looking to hoard any - no golf ball can be that valuable! Just looking for a similar replacement in terms of feel. I'll try the TP5 and see how it goes. Thanks!

That's an interesting take S&B. My reason for trying to find a lot of a certain type of ball is when you find a ball you really like and performs well for you off everything, you should keep playing it for as long as you possibly can. It's the only piece of equipment that never changes from shot to shot and because of that I would rather have a lot of something how it know how it plays that making switches from year to year/ However, that may also be because I'm very particular about my ball and I don't have a long season to waste rounds testing how different balls react in a way that would seem fruitful.

The Tour Platinum and Black were some of the best balls ever made... I still remember Rory saying he had Nike send him a few dozen of the Platinum when they got out of the business... Then he went back to the Pro V1 for the masters and hated it.

I had never played any RZN balls, but found an RZN White the other night and played it a few holes. It seemed pretty nice. Can someone explain the difference between the black, white, and platinum?

I have found a couple of the RZN Platinum and Black. They were much better than I expected. Firm and it spun enough. Still a PV1x guy though. I like the firmer feel, I know this is not the normal opinion. I like to feel the ball when I hit it. I can't stand all of these softer balls being made.

Bought a mix of these balls on eBay a few weeks ago. Really nice ball and works well in all aspects of the game. Will likely pick up some more later in the year if they are still available.
