Wwichert
I am really interested in removing the paint from some of my irons and giving them a custom paint fill. I was curious what people are using to remove the current paint and any setup/tools needed to successfully refresh the clubs look with new paint! Shankster
Acetone, Q-tips and a nylon brush will work. At least it did for me. Don't forget the butyl gloves.
deejaid
I like Citrus Strip. It's an orange gel paint stripper. Put it on, let it sit for a couple minutes, then use an old toothbrush. Super easy. PlaidJacket
It's kind of a no-brainer. But if you search the forum or on the web there's a ton of paint fill posts. JbcobbIII
I dipped my club heads in a cup of acetone for about an hour. Used a toothbrush and a small pick to clean the paint out. My heads are one piece forged so completely dipping them wasn’t an issue.
Rtracymog
I tried acetone with a black cobra trusty rusty and the acetone didn’t really work. I needed to use some paint stripper and that seemed a little more effective. Did you use industrial acetone or just 100% acetone nail polish remover?Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Cortex w/MGS Motore X F1 7X tipped 1" F5 17 degree hybrid w/Rogue Black 85X C300 Forged 3-5 w/C-Taper 130X FG Tour V6 5-6 w/C-Taper 130X Staff Model Blade 7-PW w/C-Taper 130X RTX4 52, 56, 60 w/S400 Tour Issue ER7
JbcobbIII
It was pure acetone. Picked it up at Wal-Mart. Just a warning, I tried to buy 2 quarts and they would not let me. Had to buy one quart at a time! But, you can buy a whole gallon if you want to just fine! What the heck is the world coming too?!

Wwichert
Ended up going with citristrip. Tried lab grade acetone, since I'm a chemist. It wouldn't work simply by rubbing and with PXG irons I couldn't soak the head for fear of something going wrong with the screws, etc. Half hour with citristrip and you can scratch out the paint. A few hours of letting the gel sit and it just falls off. Thanks for all the help!
