Tcwilliams82
Hey guys and gals. I am doing some experimenting with my putter grip both hands and actual grip. Has anyone ever, or currently use the same grip that is on all of their clubs, on their putter? Kenny B
It was common in the old days, and it might work for some people. However, I don't think it's the best grip to use today. Also, my feeling is that you need to grip the putter different from all your other clubs. Regular grips and your normal grip on a club tend to promote a release of the club, which is a good thing. The putting stroke is one where a release like other clubs is not a good thing. It's one of the reasons why the fat Super Stoke grips because so popular; fyi, I don't like them though. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
WestlakeGolf
I've rolled a couple of Edel putter's with a round putter grip. It seems like it is something you could get used to pretty easy, but it is definitely not a feeling I prefer. If you try it out, let us know how it goes! Whatever gives you confidence on the green, though! GB13
It probably isn't the best option today. The best option is a putter grip but if you want to try it go for it. cnosil
I have used a non tapered round grip on my putter. I liked it and would continue to use but couldn't find the right size. Round grips are great because the grip shape doesn't influence how you put your hands on the club. Tcwilliams82
Putter is re-gripped and after a practice session with it. I think I'm going to like it. I haven't played a round yet, and we all know, the practice green is different than a 3 footer for par. However, I hit a few chips and finished out with the putter. I'm really liking the seamless transition. I was amazed at how much I like picking the putter up and having the same feeling in my hand I just left from. For some reason it feels really natural. Which I thought it was going to be quite the opposite. Won't be able to play until next week. So, I will have an update after the first round with it. Kor.A.Door
I believe Steve Jones used to use a standard grip for his putter. He was a taller player, but seemed he used a putter at like 32†or something like that. He l9ooked weird using it, but it worked for him. ED13
On my last putter I used a round Edel grip and loved it. The one currently available has a soft feel which I don't like. If a regular iron grip was long enough for my grip I would be using it with extra wraps on the bottom hand on my new Evnroll putter. The standard fat Evnroll grip did not work for me at all so I had it switched for a ping style grip.
