I have not but of course I know a number of people who have - most of them have been geriatric - late 70's or 80's although I do know several younger of people who have had that procedure as well only one of whom is a golfer.  (He's around 60)  - His procedure was last spring - I don't think he's resumed playing golf yet but he's also a minor league umpire and doesn't play much golf in the summer - not our prime season in Florida - I think he's planning to resume playing after the baseball season is over.

Best wishes for your surgery when it comes up - if you'd like PM me at that time and I'll keep you in my prayers.  They help - not mine specifically but prayer in general. :)

I've got carpal tunnel problems in my left hand, but the ulnar nerve damage in my left arm is so bad that I can't feel the discomfort in the hand too much. (Thanks for letting me box, mom and dad!)

That did a number on my handicap too, if you can imagine.

But screw that.  Best of luck with your procedure, pulledabill.  The MGS community is in your corner.

I have not had a problem with Carpal Tunnel, but my wife has.  She had surgery on her right (dominant) hand in 1995.  She could have had the other one done too, but has lived with it all these years.  Why?  Because she said getting her right hand done actually improved her left hand.  She will have the other one done later this year, maybe next year.  She only has a little feeling in her left hand, and It does affect her golf game.

She mentioned that she would never do both hands at the same time; too many things related to personal hygiene that are difficult.  She recommends getting the dominant hand done first, then the other one if both are needed.

I'm sure that the procedure is standardized now, but when she had hers done in 1995, an orthopedic would make a long cut from the wrist to the palm.  She had hers done by a plastic surgeon, and only had a very small incision.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

My hands & arms were completely numb. It felt like when you cutoff circulation & have that tingle feeling. Mine were like that 24 hrs a day. Surgery is to go in reroute the tendons & such to relieve that.

Mine was so bad & couldn't hold the Doc's finger in my hand & the electricity test showed no signal was getting through.

Good buddy of mine had surgery about a year ago. Both wrists. Everything went great; now has full good feeling in both hands. Don't put stuff like this off, people. Your symptoms will get worse, not better. Let the doctors do their work.

Working in an automotive assembly plant, I've known at least four people to have this surgery ranging in age from 23 to 50. Each time it helped, but one guy only regained 95 percent usage. That is still better than suffering what you're going through.

Best of luck to you, I hope that it stops your pain.

Doc put me in braces to see if it helpa at all before I see a nerve specialist. Doc laughed when doing a couple tests and said "you cant feel a thing can you"? Nope!!

I have 3 nighs booked in Bandon mid Feb that I wil be  cancelling.

Any golfers out there had CT surgery?

WAYYYY back in the day after I left the Marines, I didn't immediately find a job in my preferred industry of electronics repair and instead had to settle into a job as an electrician's apprentice. This job mainly involved assisting with installing all the electrical boxes on newly framed structures and required extensive use of a hammer. Being strapped for cash and naïve,  I bought a cheap (and lightly weighted) one and began whacking away for a couple of months. Totally wreaked my right elbow in the process and basically gave myself a severe case of tennis elbow. It was totally debilitating and extremely painful. Visited several doctors back then for years, and basically came away with the same advice every time: "take time off of work and eat Motrin like candy". Well I couldn't do either and just dealt with the constant aches and sleep-killing pain for 25-years.

Finally was urged to try the docs again and this time one piped up and diagnosed a swollen carpel tunnel and recommended surgery. I bit and went and had it done. Total life-changer!!! Pain: GONE! Life quality: 100% BETTER! Best thing I've ever had done. I wish you the same results. Good luck and keep us apprised on your recovery-Cheers!

Certainly sorry about your having to cancel the Bandon trip. That said: my dad had this surgery in both hands last year, and couldn't be happier with the results. He said he's had this pain for years, and after the surgery, he feels completely better with perfect hand functionality. Wishing you all the best.

Best of luck on the surgery.  You will certainly feel a lot better afterwards, according to my wife.  She had one done 20+ years ago and needs the other done soon.

2nd surgery complete and stitches out yesterday. While the fingets dont have all their feeling back, they dont fall asleep and I can sleep through the night. Thats a HUGE win in my book.

I was able to putt a bit between surgies but not too much. I plan on putting today to see how it goes. Hopefully by mid week I can do a little chipping. No goals beyond that as the doc says take what each day gives and judge each day by that.
