GeekingGolf
That's the concern for me is that it varies in shot type and club type. At times it's off the tee, others are approach shots and then I have short game shots that aren't picked up. I'm not sure what else I can do. fozcycle
Hey testers, great Stage 1's all. I enjoy reading about each tester and their how I got into Golf stories. As a Cobra Connect Challenge tester, I used the Arccos 360 sensors for my baseline, which was over 20 rounds. I did not experience any dropped shot or sensor issues during that time. Now that the challenge is over, I am considering going back to the 360 sensors so I can play my Hogan's. I love my F8's but want to hit the Hogan Ptx's for a few rounds. Hearing how well things are going for you and Alfs makes me wonder if this is a me thing, or if I just received a bad batch of sensors. I'll keep digging to try and find a potential solution. I thought I had solved it with how the phone was situated in my pocket so the microphone could pick up the shots. Perhaps the system is having a difficult time since I have played various courses throughout the testing. Har in the Hat
One thing I would love to see is a "data gathering" mode for Arccos, where you can go out onto the course and hit several shots with the same club to get enough data to be statistically valid. I might go a whole round without hitting a six iron. That would be a big help. Hard core , that would be awesome. a practise mode. Today i was on the course testing the pings i500 and there were times where i stayed at a certain distance and hitting shots with old and new clubs, that would have been niect o have this to get a set of data. StrokerAce
Anyone using Arccos knows that the biggest PITA is keeping your phone in your pocket. If you have an iPhone it's not a big deal .... you can get a cheap SE that will work and is pretty small, but what do you do if you're an Android user? I have a long train commute and find myself messing with my phone a lot so I wanted a "good" small Android. Every phone maker now wants to make something that you have to hold in 2 hands... a 6 inch phone is great but not good for putting in your pocket. I was on the hunt for a relatively newer Droid with a decent camera and my research led me to the Sony Xperia Z5 compact. There are very few droid makers who make smaller phones and Sony also makes pretty good cameras... Very pleased with the size and shape...and the camera. All my apps work on it, it's got a great battery, is waterproof and it is 2 1/2 in wide by 5 in long...perfect for putting in your pocket. I picked up a z3 compact (almost same as z5; just doesn't have a couple minor upgrades) on the bay for 65 bucks. If you want to try Arccos and are looking for a compact droid give it a look. Alf. S
That's a crazy thought to me for it to miss so many shots per round. I've played 10+ rounds with it so far and it hasn't missed a single shot. As of late, it's even been getting the pin locations correct which is no small feat. Last round I played, it got 100% of shots including putts and flag locations with zero editing required. Is it the same club most times or does it vary? If we're assuming that you've got your part right, I'll bet you've got some bad sensors. Customer service is very helpful if you reach out to them with issues. Another datapoint I use my works phone today which is an iPhone 7 this seems to pick up the short putts better than by iPhone 6. But still getting the odd whoops from it, one extra putt and a totally whacky hole where it said I drove at the green at 460yds, hit a 56' wedge 222 yds back down the fairway then a 5i back on to the green. I had all the right clubs but it the wrong order. palvord
So I'm confused by the consistency with Arccos now. Yesterday afternoon, I played a quick 9 holes, and the entire time, the system only missed 2 shots. Out of my 43. The only conclusion I can draw so far is that the system does a great job when you play the same course over and over and over. Most of my rounds though, I play at various courses. I just find whoever has the best deal at that time through GolfNow. Maybe this is why I am having to add 2 shots per hole typically. Har in the Hat
in regards to the "data gathering mode" and getting the distance, one possible solution is to identify shots hit as say #1,#2..etc and then to tag the distance go to the appropriate ball that was shot #1 #2 etc. and at each one identify it as such. one possibility. palvord and GeekingGolf 2 Quote What's in my Mizuno BR-D2 bag OFFICIAL TESTER FOR THE PING i500 CLUBS. Over time, my averages began to show themselves. The first few rounds, I was really striking the ball well and had higher than normal distances. Now I’m around my average as I have played more. Give it time and you’ll begin to see everything level out.
