I go down the street to look at these every once in a while at the Patriots hall of fame...I'm sure there'll be another one next to it real soon.

I'm thinking the NFL has a huge image and player safety issue. If it doesn't resolve these it's nothing but a novelty sport in a decade.

That would be sad

In Bill we trust, go Pats!

Very curious how the QB field will play out this year across the league.

As long as there is money to be made, someone will take the field. I'm friends with a LB on the falcons and both he and his wife know what lies ahead health wise, but they just don't think about it. Sometimes a nice salary outweighs the health risks. Oh and he knows that these rule changes won't stop concussions, etc. It will just add to the penalty yardage each game.

I think the players association needs a decent PR firm to help get their message across instead of locker room interviews. Nothing is more American than freedom of speech but it does you no good when the kneeling at a game leaves a lot of people confused and scratching their heads.

As a Texans fan, I hope Watson stays healthy cause dang he looks good. I think the AFC South will be one of the toughest divisions with Jacksonville's defense, Titans showing life with Mariotta, and the return of Luck (despite the lack of weapons on offense). Should be a fun season.

I'm thinking lots of Sunday golf this fall.

Amen to that!

What's the NFL?

(I'd rant on incessantly about certain issues regarding why I have ceased to be a fan of the NFL over the past few years, but I don't want to anger anyone over what I am sure everyone has already beat a dead horse over, and that no one will change their mind on, no matter how much logic and reason, or emotion you throw into that dumpster fire.)

I can't wait for the season to start! Just hoping for the Packers to put together a winning season. Packers fans are spoiled brats, I will admit, but come one - Rodgers needs to win before the lights of his career go out!

Interestingly about player health and longevity mentioned above... I was speaking with a few former college players and a lot of them are switching to ketogenic diets to help with the inflammation and cognitive stress of playing competitive ball. It is all anecdotal at this stage but it was interesting to hear how bought in this particular group was.

It's certainly not perfect but take a look at the ratings... novelty sport?  c'mon rev.... this isn't the cornhole championships.

What is taking those mods so long with the dislike button!!

I actually can't hate to hard on the Pats (I lived in bean town for 5 year). As a fan of the sport, I have to admire what they have been able to do to string together consecutive years of competitive teams. They always find a way to make it work. Why can't the Packers do that!?!?!

I totally agree, Rev.

In New England, they can't get forty kids to field a team.  Schools have had to drop their freshman and JV programs, and the varsity programs could come next.  Parents are simply not letting their kids play.

It seems to fall on socio-political lines.  Football still flourishes in parts of the nation with different views than ours on other things as well.  Just an observation.

Fortunately for me, I'm not a football fan.  I'm a Patriots fan.

When the Brady / Belichick era is officially over, the Red Sox and boxing will be my complete sports-watching experience,

I started to become less interested a few years ago. Too many commercials for one and and the knee thing, etc. I may watch some off and on this year but I certainly won't be wasting a whole day glued to it.

My interest level today is a lot less than a couple years ago. I am a fantasy geek with 20 teams a year and because of that I do find I cheer for players more than teams anymore.

With out crossing the moral code, there is just to much negative noise around the NFL to ignore, they have some serious issues they need to address with perhaps the biggest being player safety.

As a Lions fan, I want so much for them to do well. Every year I look at the team and see some really good players, and also see a good bit of potential, but it always seems to be that they just don't put it all together in the games that matter most. 1 week they look unbeatable, the next week they look like they couldn't beat a high school squad. Anyway, I hope for the best, but it's probably another 8-8, 9-7 type year, and missing the playoffs because they lose to the bears in week 17 or something like that.

Nfl is getting harder and harder to watch with all these rule changes. They also need to stick to just football, sports for me is a break from everything else.
