yeah, I paused about 10 times writing that, but in the end, I felt it was needed, considering the hypocrisy of his recent disclaimers about not being a fan of football anymore.

It's only a stupid game, and if you sat through some of the Patriots games that I sat through as a young man, you'd know that I've accumulated the credits to have fun now!  It doesn't seem to be lasting forever.  While many of the players could be my grandchildren, Brady is sadly as old as my own kids.

I don't know if I'll still watch when it's all over.  I like the Brady/Belichick Patriots, not football itself.  They're like payback for enduring the old days when i was a big fan and actually attended the games at Fenway, sometimes freezing my ass off to watch really bad football.

The Steelers will be fine. The fan base is finally realizing that their beloved Steelers aren't immune to the same crap as the other 31 teams. They always thought that was the case, but the rest of us new it was just a matter of time...lol.

... We have all seen this before, a few prima donna's happily carrying the team and even raising the play of others when winning. But once trouble hits and they start losing, the prima donna's can't win it all by themselves, even though that is where their effort is and not with the team, everything starts to unravel and like 2 yr olds throwing a tantrum it becomes a cancer that must be removed. Terrell Owens and Brandon Marshall come to mind.

so, anyways, seems (MY) Hawks have to go to the great state of Texas for their date with the “cowgirls”. They do have a history of handling them sometimes, so I hope they can do it again. I just don’t see the Rams or KC going to the big dance at the end, I see Baltimore and of course, the Seahawks. With the final winner being the Hawks.

The playoffs could be really interesting. KC, LA Rams, and NO were the tops for the first 3/4 of the season, now they all seem to be struggling down the stretch. Chicago with a good defense could be trouble for some teams. The Seahawks could cause problems in the NFC as well, they have been playing at a high level lately. I think either the Rams or NO comes out of the NFC. The AFC seems a bit more open, baltimore will have trouble If a defense will force them to throw the ball. Of course NE will always pose an issue in the playoffs, in the end I think it will come down to Houston and KC.  My pick is KC vs. NO with KC winning. Should be some good games to watch no matter the outcome. As a Lions fan, all we do is watch, so good luck to rose whose teams are still playing, for the rest of us, here to hoping for a good draft day.

How did Indy dominate Houston today. That was a pretty lopsided game. I thought it would be a close kind of game with Houston winning. Indy’s defense looked to confuse Watson quite a bit, and Watson just didn’t throw the ball well.

... I am a huge fan and I was really disappointed to see Rod Marinelli leave the Bears as I thought he was one of the very best DC's in the NFL. He has crafted a great defense in Dallas. His players love him and you can tell by they way they play. After a few years of Mel Tucker and the worst defense in Bears history when Marinelli left, thankfully Ryan Pace hired Vic Fangio and a great Bears defense returned. It is really nice to see these two great defenses thriving in an offensively slanted league.

Lions fans would adamantly disagree with this statement about Marinelli. He was horrible. It just amazes me that coaches come to Detroit as what looks to be a decent hire, then absolutely lay an egg, then get fired, go to another team as a coordinator and become one of the leagues best coordinators. 

 

Anyway. The Chargers are just taking the ravens completely out of any offense they had planned. They look pretty good today.

... Being a great DC or OC is no guarantee they will be a great or even good HC. We heave seen this many times in the NFL, especially DC's. HC's just have so much on their plates that is not necessary related to playing football. It just takes a different skill set to run an offense/defense than it does to run an entire team and al the responsibility that goes with it. Marinelli was really loved by defensive players here in Chicago because he was so hands on and was such a great teacher. I always thought he was better suited to DC than HC and I have a feeling Fangio might be the same.

I doubt the next team the cowboys play will have as stupid of an offensive coordinator as a Brian Shottenheimer , who repeatedly thought that running every 1st and second down right into the teeth of a very good run defense was a good idea, especially with two offensive linemen at partial strength. 

No, he waits until 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter to unleash Russell Wilson’s passing game...

Great coordinators are not always good head coaches. Hue Jackson is a perfect example.

As a football fan, and a sports enthusiast for my entire life, I do understand that not all DC or OC will make good Head coaches. It just amazes me that th guys that are the “next best head coach” always seem to be big flops for one reason or another. I think some of these bad teams continue being bad because they listen to the “media” on who the next coach should be instead of finding a good coach for what their team needs. Their are many Head coaches in the league right now that came out of nowhere, and end up being very good.

He was the 2nd worst kicker in the NFL all season. He was already a headcase. 

Bears played way too conservative on offense until they needed to. They deserved every bit of what happened.

... I wouldn't say too conservative, but Nagy was never in any kind of play calling groove. And they made too many mistakes. Any defense that holds the SB Champs to 16 points should win. Eagles have a very good defense but 15 points at home is abysmal. And you are right of course, Parkey has been a head case all year.

With zero running game he had to be conservative. There should have been at least three picks by the Birds that were dropped. Lost trust in a young QB but the kid stepped up and got them in a position to win.

I think the take away for the Bears for the future is that there is a still a really good upside to this team. Their defense is very good, and they are still quite young on offense. If they add a good running back a couple of O-linemen they will contend for a decent amount of time. They’ve built a good core of players so they should have a good run the next few years.

That's nothing.  My pension package includes a United Healthcare Medicare Advantage, Plan.

Now, when I'm trying to watch Nicole Wallace's show on MSNBC, some guy is insisting that I need a Humana Medicare Advantage Plan instead.  What the hell's the matter with this guy? Can't I just watch TV?
