OK, we put up 38 points two weeks in a row  and we're finally over .500,
3-2,
for the first time since we won the opener against Houston.
Luck played very well in a losing effort.
 
Watched the game with my son who told me a couple of things afterward.
First, I referred to the Colts as "Baltimore" at least four times during the telecast.
Second, they've been in Indiana longer than they were in Maryland.
You know how I am with change.
 
Anyway, we're home vs. Chiefs in a week and a half,  I think.
Not completely sure.
Still in Red Sox mode as long as they're still playing.
 
 
 

I still have the MLB package so I’ll watch the Saux to the bitter end.

... Those of us that played college football probably ran across a situation like this. There is so much pressure to win and many coaches are willing to take a chance on an exceptional player that might be a cancer for the team. The good coaches never do, because they understand football is a team game and like the overused cliche "one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch" or at least those he touches always applies. 

... Many of the top NAIA college's take a chance on D1 players that were kicked off their team for disciplinary reasons and give them a 2nd chance. Sometimes it works out and others are like AB, never changing and bringing their problems with them. The good coaches give them a very short lease and cut them with one single transgression and others give them multiple chances before cutting them loose. My experience was the guys that appreciated the 2nd chance flourished but the guys that made even one mistake would make more and the sooner you got rid of them the better.

Definitely not a stunning decision. At the end of it all, Brown leaves the Raiders having made no money whatsoever, he didn't even earn his signing bonus, and racked up nearly $300k in fines.

If he's going to get signed now, I'd have to imagine it'd be a one year deal for league minimum with performance incentives tacked on. Even then I can't see any team offering him a long-term deal with any real amount of guaranteed money beyond that first deal.

I can't help but feel like this is some sort of a manic episode for AB. It's not as though he was like this his entire tenure with the Steelers and if he was they sure did a good job keeping it under wraps until last year. Seeing a lot of people suggesting he's dealing with bipolar disorder, likely undiagnosed, as well. I really don't know either way, but I've seen similar behaviour from others in manic states.

Not all have worked out and they weren't afraid to end things early. His deal is largely bonus based so he'll have to meet some requirements just to earn the full $15 mil his contract could be worth.

The Patr*ots should be investigated by the league.... but they won't be because Goodell is in bed with Kraft. Say whatever you like.... I really don't care. I just hate the AB thing as a guy that played D1 football and always tried to play the game right. My old man told me if you could walk away when you were done and your teammates said you played hard and played right that was the best that you could do. 20 years later the guys I played with always said I played hard and played right and glad that is my legacy. I would have played in the league for a decade at the veteran minimum had I had the talent. Kills me to watch a guy that has more talent in his pinky toe than I had in my entire body just p!ss it away.

Do the Raiders still lose those two draft picks? That’s what REALLY sucks if they do! But, AB has become a prima-donna, and the Raiders, pretty much, got exactly what they knew they were getting.

I'm one of those Pats fans.

Yes, they've been involved in some controversies but to suggest they colluded with Brown to get him out of Oakland is laughable at best. They'd have given him a much better contract if that was the case.

This is just a case of a team with a history of signing players like AB taking a chance on another one. It's a relatively low risk move for them. If he performs, they have an even better chance of winning their 7th Super Bowl. If he doesn't, they cut him and they've still got a solid enough roster to contend for that 7th Super Bowl title. Their receiving corps is good enough without Brown. Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett, Demaryius Thomas and a couple of solid rookies in Jakobi Meyers and N'Keal Harry though he's on IR at the moment is a solid depth chart of receivers. Their only real weakness on offense is at the TE position where they won't have any reputable talent until week 5 when Ben Watson and Lance Kendricks are eligible to play.

Stevie Wonder could have seen this coming with AB. He wanted out of the Gruden/Mayock shitshow and did what he had to in order to be released. But he’s still a head-case.
