H continued that trend in training camp struggling against the Bears defense and it was written off as understandable against such a good D. But now 2 games in a row he looks like he is playing to not make mistakes. Slow to throw to open receivers and staring down his first read. That is very disconcerting but remembering he only played 13 games in college and basically one season in the NFL under Nagy, I still have hope he can get back to last seasons form and start playing with confidence again. I would add the first game play calling was horrendous with the Packers only having a 3 and 7 point lead, Nagy completely abandoned the run so no play action and the Packers D had a free run at Trubisky all game long. That can shake any young QB up. ... He sounds very optimistic and much more upbeat after the win with his clutch scramble/throw at the end of the game to set up the FG, so hopefully that is the jump start he needed. I actually caddied for Spider Lockhart once! It is Eli’s time beyond a doubt - the last time they benched him was just wrong - the O’line was horrific - the issues were not his fault. This time it’s not as much him as it’s that time to move on. I agree that he is a tough hombre - so was Phil Simms BTW - but his was a different era. They are similar in that they aren’t all time great QBs but are all time great winners - they fit NY. And those Super Bowls were amazing. I’m grateful for what Eli did - I’m also excited for Jones to get on the field and then to get Golden Tate playing as well in two weeks. It's been hard to watch over the last few years with the terrible drafting by Reese and the disaster that was McAdoo. Eli handled every bump in the road with class and dignity and is one of those rare athletes that truly is a great role model.
