But Herberts/Mahomes/Burrows can at least move around in the pocket or escape throwing on the run. Brady can't. ... And Carr is a no mans land QB and so many teams have one. He has played scared since then. I still look for Brady to be a Raider, in spite of the crappy O line. McDaniels will get what he wants. EasyPutter
Bills Mafia response to Damar Hamlin's condition is worth looking at. Middler
^^^ I have to believe football fans everywhere, regardless of who their home team may be, are pulling for Hamlin. It was horrifying to watch, I had to tune out as I couldn't watch/listen once it was obvious he wasn't getting up soon. After a short time I just couldn't listen to the commentators at a loss for words - though they handled themselves OK all considered - especially Booger, the first I heard to say 'no one cares about football for now, it's only about Damar' - EXACTLY. But in retrospect, no one was prepared for something that serious, on what looked like an ordinary tackle. It's understandable no one knew what to do, and we were all hoping Damar would somehow get up and walk away or just wave at the crowd from a stretcher on the way out of the stadium. Again, it (understandably) took him a little while to take a position, but Booger handled it the best IMO. Here’s another example https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/former-jaguars-guard-garland-native-uche-nwaneri-dies-after-collapsing-at-wifes-home/4026513/ Two completely different scenarios and not relevant comparisons. Damar suffered a cardiac arrest as a result of an electrical conduction issue. The reason we know it was a cardiac arrest is he was resuscitated by AED. Cardiac arrests are when your heart rhythm (EKG) is disrupted and knocked out of rhythm. The funky QRS complexes we see on TV show are a visual representation of your electrical beat moving from the Atria (P waves) The Atrial / Ventricular junction (Junctional beat) to the Ventricles (Ventricular beat) and then into the Purkinje fibers...a shockable rhythm has to be either a ventricular fibrillation event or a pulseless ventricular tachycardia. Since he was successfully shocked (twice) and was able to sustain a heartbeat, we can say with confidence that this was the underlying cause. Conversely, Uche suffered a heart attack which is a blood / distribution issue. Heart attacks are caused by atherosclerotic or arteriosclerotic issues with blood vessels supplying oxygenated blood to the heart muscles. He had an enlarged heart and that becomes a distribution issue for maintaining adequate tissue perfusion. As a native WNY'er, avid Bills fan and EMS dork, this particular incident hits me. My younger brother attended HS and played lacrosse with a fellow student who died as a result of commotio cordis event in the later 1990's and since that time there have been two additional fatalities caused by this traumatic phenomenon in the county where I live. Respectful speculation is OK because we are curious by nature. Understanding something so unique and traumatic will only help us grow better and smarter together. We don't have an "underlying cause" yet, we have a condition and symptoms. Can we just wait to find out while Damar is fighting for his life, maybe focus on him? It was a pretty ordinary tackle, like millions of others before. An underlying cause might be: Quote Q: Can you tell us why Damar may have had a sudden cardiac arrest and why it occurred so quickly? What causes that? Dr. Hammill: Clearly, I think he likely had an arrhythmia. And so if you look at other causes of sudden rhythm changes of the heart, that’s what they’re going to look into over these next few days and weeks. And that’s what we look into when somebody drops in our community because we want to make sure that they didn’t have an inheritable condition. Something like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or inherited rhythm condition like Long QT syndrome, or Arrhythmogenic, right ventricular dysplasia or these fancy words. And all they mean is that you’re susceptible to a sudden rhythm, change of your heart. Some of those can be hereditary. Some of them can be acquired, and I think that’s going to be a part of anything that goes on going forward. MacTourney
Just heard a report that #3 is down to only using 50% assisted oxygen instead of where he was upon admission at 100% use. Good sign I would presume. Edited January 4, 2023 by MacTourney Quote Good hand action comes from good body action.

I don’t doubt Commotio Cordis, I’m wondering if there isn’t a contributing factor. But I’d rather wait until the experts tell us versus armchair QB’s. That’s all I’m saying.
