Just as you mentioned Sam, it’s clear that the traditional pocket QB is no longer the conceptually ideal player.

... I think Russel Wilson should be the prototype QB for todays NFL. Athletic, scramble to throw and run only as the last resort AND get down before taking a hit. Shanahan has always used his QB's as RB's and it cost him with Lance. And just mind boggling play calling with Jimmy G at QB and a practice squad back up, he called 2 running plays into the teeth of the defense for him! I would not call a QB sneak unless it was the SB and near the end of the game. Nothing frustrates a defense more than a mobile QB that gets out of the pocket and downfield for a first down then either runs out of bounds or slides before taking a hit. Every defense would make the trade for a 1st down if they get a clean shot at the QB. And as we discussed, losing a starting QB is almost an instant loss.

I would say Josh Allen is more the prototypical QB for today’s NFL, particularly with his choice (so far) this season to run much less. I think that may be part of the Ken Dorsey influence as Offensive Coordinator for the Bills.

Haha Doug using the definition "typical form of something" I wish there were more QB's like Allen but there just aren't many 6'5" and 240 pound athletes that can play QB in the NFL because he is fun to watch. But like Mahomes, I think he is pretty close to one of a kind. While taking nothing away from Rogers or Brady and to some degree Herbert I think Allen and Mahomes are just very special players that don't come along very often and as closely as I follow QBs, these two just amaze me every time I see them play.

They amaze me, as well … and as a former DB (strong safety), I would not like to play against either Allen or Mahomes.

As much as I admire and respect Mahomes as an athlete, I cannot root for him because of the team that he plays on and what he did against the Bills in the final 13 seconds of the latest AFC Championship Game in January.

How did folks make it before the cell phone could watch TV?!

Sons game at 2:30 so it will be getting shut off but when ya have to be at the field for 1 for warm ups it’s a savior!

... Nice. Some of us young seniors actually grew up without any type of recording device at all so if we didn't see it live, we didn't see it. Even the first Betamax only recorded 1 hour.

One thing that is great in being in this timezone is I don't really see how badly my fantasy teams are doing until I wake up in the morning. Have some hopeful squads, however its been a challenging year so far!

i actually sometimes prefer to listen and I’m only half paying attention to it right now while watching warmups but it sure is a nice have for sure!

TV was 3 channels w/Rabbit Ears.  Phone was on the wall with a Party Line. Things sure have changed!!

...  I don't think anyone followed Washington in 71. I was a Cowboys fan. The South is a funny place and in NC they considered DC the North and filled with yankees.

Definitely, middle of CT we would get NY  Sports Radio and a some Boston stations.

Winter Cornhole Season

Time for the NFL to open an investigation on Miami and Tua's "back" injury in Week 3. Willing to bet he was concussed on Sunday, after what just went down on TNF. Sad to see, obviously had a soft spot for Tua since he's a local boy.

Hope he recovers fully and reconsiders playing football.
