NFL thread! What are you thinking?

How did everybody get through the weekend with no football?

I finally straightened out my closet.  Tossed out some suits from three sizes ago.

All made by Enzo Fosella.  Great tailor, now well into his eighties and retired.

This one's for you, Enzo.    (Sambuca in my morning coffee.)

What did you guys do to kill the time?

I think we've got Philadelphia next...at the Link. Nasty place like the old Vet. I liked Franklin Field, myself. Classy Ivy League ballpark.

Home of the Penn Relays....is that still a thing?

Hopefully, whatever was in our system for the Baltimore debacle is flushed out now. The whole team must have had the flu.

Is everybody excited about the Pats getting back on the winning track?

I still have faith in Tommy and Bill...for now.

I had football this weekend.... Buckeyes... and I went to my brother's to watch the Browns and drink a few beers.

I don't think you need to worry about going back to the show, but I'd love to see the Pats lose the first play off game...lol.

So I was (REALLY) bored yesterday and decided to turn on some of the talking heads on FS1, discussing all things NFL.  Is it just me, or do they want to talk about nothing else except the Dallas Cowboys?  I mean, you might not even know that Minnesota actually was their opponent on Sunday the way the talking heads were going.  Dallas this, and Dallas that, blah blah blah blah blah.

I mean, I turned it on in the faint hopes that they might actually be showing highlights or breaking down some of the other games/teams in the league and all we get is Dallas this and Dallas that.

So I turned it off after about 30 minutes and watch one of the Captain America movies.

And yes, Skip Bayless is a worthless (certainly overpaid) tool.  Between him and Colin Cowturd, I'm not sure who spends more time looking at themselves in front of the mirror in the morning just to admire themselves.  🤮

Penn Relays, haven’t heard that in decades. Probably still around.

It never seems to amaze me at how Detroit can continue to be horrible decade after decade. It hasn’t mattered who they’ve hired as a general manager, head coach, or anything. They’ve been awful since the 60s. Every year we have the same issues with the offensive and defensive lines, we can’t run the ball, and our defense gives up way too many yards by the opposing team’s running backs. We don’t pressure the quarterback, we always end up in the bottom 5 for sacks, and we year after year never make the playoffs. What does an organization have to do to start to win? How is it possible that New England has done it for almost 15 years straight now? We hired a guy from New England to be our general manager, and even a New England defensive coordinator to be our head coach, and nothing has changed. It never matters who coaches, who are the general manager is, etc. Our draft selections never pan out, and the last decent player we had retired early, just like Barry Sanders did.

Seriously! How is it possible futility can last this long? It makes no sense.

We draft poorly. When we do get a stud in the draft, we eventually let them go. How many years in a row did we draft a WR in the first round until we got lucky with megatron? Now, we like to draft RBs every year. Also we are the latest victim in the "draft belichick's lackeys" scheme that NFL teams think will somehow turn your franchise into the new Patriots. During Patricia's time the Pats D wasn't even that good. Look at them NOW, lol!

... The real shame for Detroit fans is most teams struggle to find a QB that can take them to the SB. If Stafford is not an elite QB, he is in the category right below elite and deserves to have a team around him that can take advantage of his talent. I wish he played for the Bears!

That chiefs rams game was good wasn’t it?

two of my best friends were opposing fans, heart stopping for both, just like last night was for me... all I wanted was a good showing, and getting a win was just icing on the cake.

that Russell Wilson int just about made me crap myself...but then his run at the end to put us into FG range made up for it...

such a good game, both offensively and defensively for both teams. I could barely get to sleep after that

Fear not: Bobby Layne,  Doak Walker, Alex Karras, and Night Train Lane are well rested and ready for the stretch run.

Not sure about Barry Sanders, but you won't need him.

Preach it!

Why Detroit (Cincinnati, Cleveland and the Jets as well) still has fans is a giant mystery to me.

Hey, I've spent my whole life as a fan of the Miami Dolphins, but you don't hear me talking about them anytime soon, because the suckiness of that franchise stems from the top down, and there isn't one positive thing I have to say about them.  As much as it pains me to say it, I miss Joe Robbie.  He was a cheap prick, but he knew how to run an NFL franchise.

Russell Wilson is definitely the League MVP so far.. Jadeveon Clowney is a BEAST... @Sluggo42 on the local Sports talk radio here ( Seattle ) we get to here Mike Holmgren. He thought it was the best game of the season. Tyler locket will be ready for the Nov 24th game against Philly..

The entire world knows it was a fumble.👍

On my screen, it looked clearly like an incomplete forward pass.  Just as my screen clearly showed the Giants holding Seymour on Eli's pass to Tyree.

Anyway, we've got the Philadelphia club this weekend.  I've long respected the Eagles specifically because they didn't have a single scab in the '87 strike year.  They're also 1 and 1 with us in Super Bowls.

Phily is my kind of town,  but if we don't beat them at the Linc Sunday, my football season is probably over.
