As with all Lion players, they eventually end-up sucking.... Or retire early.

... Today was a question of which team wanted to lose more. Bears tried hard but Lions are more experienced. 🙄

From the Rev’s office. @Rick have you seen the Huskies play this year? We are clearly on the comeback trial. Bouknight is the real deal - better than Hamilton or Ben Gordon as freshman. That’s rarified company. Hurley has something brewing with a top 20 class in and the making of another one on the way. We just need to hang on long enough to see the results.

Clearly they will win before the Giants who are a mess.

Tell me, kind Vicar,

instead of showing me that Super Bowl XLII pennant, why didn't you just stab me in the eye with a rusty fishing knife?

If he would have done that, you wouldn't be able to see it as clearly. 😂

The greatest era in football history?

hahahahahahaha...

ended in the 70’s?

bwahahahahaha. You guys are killin me...

The game was a lot more physical in the 70's. It was harder to win consistently when the QB was fair game and WR's got mugged all the way down the field. Defense won championships. Today, defenses aren't allowed to play.

In the 70's there was the Steelers, Raiders, Dolphins, Cowboys, and maybe throw the Redskins in there as pretty much dominating the decade. Today there is only the Patr*ots that really dominate. I'll leave out why that might be...lol.

Football is a different game today from the 70’s just as golf is. It is what it is. I don’t know that it’s better or worse.

The same is true with other sports. There weren’t too many 6’11” perimeter players in the NBA in the 70’s. One guy (1) threw 100 in MLB and a shift was bizarre -

Things change

Here's the thing, S&B. Season tickets are expensive. Private boxes even more expensive. People who buy them want to see the players that they're paying to see ON THE FIELD.

Sponsors pay billions to televise NFL games.  They expect ratings so people see their ads. People watch to see the stars, not the people left standing at the end.

And more important than ANY of that, brain and spinal cord injuries REALLY SUCK.  Changing the rules to prevent them is a GOOD THING.  The Roman Colosseum is in ruins. Let's keep it that way. We're supposed to evolve.

... Amen Rev, it is a very different game because players have physically exceeded how the game was meant to be played. No face mask meant using the head much less and players used to have to tackle, not make vicious hits. And nobody envisioned 6'5" 275lb DE's that would be at full speed in 3 steps. The size, power and especially the speed of these amazing athletes makes it impossible for NFL QB's to survive if they can be hit anywhere at full speed. I have stated this before but my son played a hybrid DE/LB at 6'3" and 255lbs running a 4:59 forty. That was faster than every position played but one speedy WR I played with in college 1971.

Cowboys suck, yet they’ll probably win their division....

pathetic.

but to be fair, I think the Hawks won their conference once with a 7-9 record...  but they sucked too

Great coaching, consistent ownership message & support, ability to ID talent that other teams cast off or put in the wrong system, and solid drafting year in and year out.

I already know what you're going to come back with, and I'm here to tell you - don't bother. You know it's laughable just as much as everyone else does.

I understand that. But just like you don't like modern golf equipment, I don't care for what football has become, either. I prefer the way the game was played back in the day over the ticky tac, rules laden game we have now where refs decide games... to a certain extent. YMV.

Ideas for the Lions:
New owners
New GM
New coach
Sacrifice a chicken (buy some KFC)
Fire the ENTIRE staff, meaning everyone in the building
Burn the uniforms
Douse game balls with holy water
Pay Belicheck $100 million to come to Detroit and bring his O Coordinator
Hold a public seance at midfield to appease the spirits
Trade every pick in the draft because they can’t draft worth a piss anyway
SELL. THE. FRANCHISE. MOOOOOVE!

...PMookie I hear ya, but Trubisky likes the Lions just the way they are. He has thrown 7 TD passes against 10 other teams in 2019 and 6 TD passes against the Lions this year in 2 games. Please don't change a thing. 😇

You like what you like, S&B, but the YMV was crossing the line.

Not sure how?

YMV is vulgar urban street talk for Your Mother's Vagina.

Did you mean something else?
