LankyGolf
For myself, I think these are hideous. I hate badmouthing Scotty, and to now, I don't think he has been one of the most creative putter designers, but these just do not fit my eye. I haven't held one or anything, so maybe I am speaking too soon, and these things could spark a revolution in putting (I don't know), but they just look a bit too funky for me. Admittedly, I am kind of a traditionalist when it comes to golf clubs - there are a bunch of mallets and other putters that are just a bit too radical for me to be comfortable over, it's not just these. Anyone else feel the same? To each their own, definitely. And if these help you putt better, I won't stand in your way. But I can't get over how unattractive these are to me. Okay, someone can take the soapbox back now. Thank you. Kyle ----- "I'd rather be driving a Titleist." cnosil
How can anyone focus on the ball with those bat wings sticking out? Because the ball isn't part of the putter and you shouldn't focus on the putter. Don't see how this design is that much different than #7 shapes, futura shapes, and spiders. Just an attempt to make a mallet look more like a blade. I agree, it looks so close to the 5W, that I am not sure what justifies the $400 increase. There are so many great winged putters out there that I don't understand why this one is worth $600-700 more than others. DPattGolf
Local club has these in the shop. They actually look way better in person than in pictures and the wings frame the ball rather nicely. I also think the futura and spider flow much better. Yes, there have been tests done that show players eyes are drawn to different things. That is why you practice focusing on the ball. Regarding the futura and spider flowing better, it is just your thoughts. Those thoughts are important to you. I personally pick performance over looks so if the Cameron puts the ball into the hole more consistently and has better distance control, then it looks good to me. GB13
Is there honestly a big difference in MOI with those bat wings out vs. in?Well, yes and no. In comparison to a blade, yes there is a big difference. It will be much more forgiving. In comparison to a big ole mallet, no, there isn't a huge difference in MOI. Their thinking is, let's try to make a putter with a ton of MOI that is prettier than an ER9 or another huge mallet. Oh i get that the MOI would be higher than a blade but lower than a mallet, I'm mostly wondering if there is anything beside an aesthetic difference in the wing curvature. With wings out it should be slightly higher than wings in, but would it be at all noticeable to a layman? Because quite frankly, it looks pretty awful like that. The farther away weight is from the center, the higher the MOI. So in theory, having the wings farther away from center, makes the MOI higher.
