I'm hitting the 919 Tour and MP18SC at a fitting on Tuesday, as I left my run for 900 Tours too late. I haven't hit the MP18 range yet, and thought it would be remiss of me to not try them.

Consider a blended set for either series. The MP-18 blades in the short irons is what I did and I'm so pleased that I did. I went SC 7-5 and FliHi for the 4. Love the 919 series looks over the 900 series. You've got two great options to sift through.

What I think is the best news is the more durable finish.  I will be posting some pics in the 900 Tour review thread to update the wear of my 900 Tours to show how, while the bag chatter is acceptable, the finish itself wears awkwardly - specifically near the power frame cavity area.

 

Funny you should mention the awkward wear areas, I game the 900 forged and they do the same thing.  Places where a ball never touches.  That being said, it still does not bother me at all when I pure a shot.  Man they just feel like butter!

Just be careful about rust. Make sure your clubs/covers aren't wet when you put them on. It's funny that Mizuno advises against them, but sells "official" ones on their website. Bag chatter happens, but I'm not going to fret about small nicks while their in the bag, only to pull them out and throw them straight into the earth at 80+ mph

So in my last fitting, nothing was able to beat out my current irons distance wise, but I got similar distances out of the Hot Metal Pro, but absolutely loved the feel of the 919 Forged. My question is whether or not ordering Forged 1 degree strong would help with the 5 yard loss in distance I saw between the Forged and my CF16. It would make both sets the same in terms of loft, but curious if it would close that gap.

Just got fit for a set of jpx 919 tours 3-PW with project x 6.5 and also got fit for s18 wedges. The order has been placed and I should have the clubs in hand later today or tomorrow. I will post some pics when they arrive. I’m so excited! Like a kid at Christmas

Definitely could make up the difference.  Would also lower launch and spin. I would ask your fitter.

Would it lower the bounce as well?  I know Mizunos are usually low bounce to begin with and if you catch them a hair fat on a wet day it's a long day.

Yes it will, but it will also change the bounce, and as jlukes said, spin and launch too.

I'm exactly on the same boat as you.
My dad just called me today and ask for my clubs... I'm like why??? Oh cause apparently my brother also has golf fever now...

So I either buy him a new iron set from 1 or 2 seasons ago or I give him my CF16 and get new irons myself

Can you guess what my choice will be?

After hitting 919F at a demo day, I was 99% sold on those. That was before the HMP came out.

Any direct comparison between those 2? I know the HMP have stronger lofts, so it should be longer. How does the cast chromoly thing feel compared to the sweet Mizuno forging?

I will be hitting them side by side on a LM, but couldn't wait to get some feedback here!

Jason Day has his lofts bent strong. So does Rory and many other pro golfers. 

My world class fitter is having my new irons bent strong. 

Who cares what the loft is, so long as it gives you desired gapping, flight and stopping power

It's not that I care what loft it's bent to, but the effect it has on bounce and turf interaction and such.
