PXG Offering GEN1 Irons at Substantial Discount

Has anyone taken advantage of the new PXG Gen1 offer?  You can "get fitted" online and they will build you a custom set for $175 per club.  A 4-W set would cost $1225.  This is a pretty attractive price when you compare to the latest offerings from other club companies.

The question is, is it worth the gamble?

I went through their online fitting process several times changing the variables each time.  Their algorithm consistently recommended their    PXG-0311XF clubs.  They also consistently recommended a shorter shaft (-1/2 inch) and a -1 degree lie.  This all seems to make a lot of sense to me.

The problem is, custom clubs are not returnable!  You buy 'em, you own 'em.

I'm looking at new Ping i700s and I'm being lured by this PXG deal.

Anyone else looking into this offer?

I was going to buy the gen2s feel better so I went that route.

At the price it's worth it as long as you are comfortable with the results of the fitting and how they compare to other fittings you have or current specs. They also give you the option to modify their recommendations online

Are the dots functional or cosmetic?

Technically they are weight ports but to me they are just cosmetic.

They are there to add weight back to the club, increase moi and optimize launch conditions.

Go with the Pings and never look back .  Seriously, why invest that much $$ into the older design/technology?  Also, I would want to find some that I could hit, preferably with a LM, before buying.
