Gg Owen
We visited a beautiful resort over the Labor Day weekend. The course was astoundingly wide open. They had a stretch of extremely hard holes from 11-15 that were just diabolical. After putting out on the 15 th green, we looked back and saw a handful of groups on the course. So our thoughts were why not replay these holes for fun.Drove our carts back too 11 and tried these hard holes over again.Never held up play nor did the ranger ever notice us replaying them.Pretty sure this was the last time visiting this great facility. So decided on torturing ourselves one more time. And afterwards we told the starter we replayed the holes and would pay for another 9.He told us it wasn't an issue and didn't charge us at all. Anyone else replay holes ?
HardcoreLooper
If it's free replays? Then yes. Or on a course I play for free. But only after finishing the round. Golfspy_CG2
On a similar wide open course after the round ive gone back and played 17/18 on a particular course that is routed that way. But never more than those two, without making it an official replay. One particular story stands out. We had a group of 12 play a late afternoon round finished around 5:00. Had some Got to talking about what a great course it was. Somebody mentioned going back out, there was maybe 45 minutes or so of daylight left. We asked the pro shop if we could pay for a few more holes. The guy said, everyone is in. Go have fun and be careful. Ive never seen 8 (some had left) guys move so fast toward the door. It was a great customer service move by the Pro. Many return rounds have been played there. Gg Owen
Nice golf spy Rob.Little favors like this go along way in promoting a great golf business faciltiy.Ive only ran into a handful of courses where the customer service was extremely bad.And out of those, two of them closed their doors and another is in major financing peril
HardcoreLooper
Great story Rob. I don't know why more courses don't offer free/cheap replays on a space-available basis. I don't expect a course to give away a tee time that they can sell, but if the course is open, make people happy and they'll be sure to come back and spend more money. tommc23
I have replayed up for 3 holes when the course is wide open behind me and a log jam in front of me. If it's the same and I played the hole poorly I will replay it with a clean mind and try to best my score. fozcycle
On Saturdays, after the points game and a few beers, we used to go back out for an “Emergency 9â€. I was not a member then, but the pro shop never charged us. We always asked them first for permission and they obliged. NiftyNiblick
I played the game long enough to see a lot of things change. In my early days of golf on the public links around here, green fees were for the day. If you wanted to, you could play from sunrise to sunset. Then, as golf became more popular and courses became more crowded, that became less prevalent. One wonders, with golf becoming less popular, if those days will return. I doubt it, but who knows? PlaidJacket
I occasionally go play with some guys at our local muni and many times we'll play an "emergency" 9 after completing 18. The green fee there are for all day play. Just pay an extra cart rental if necessary. I never go back and replay certain holes at courses. Of course there are times I wish I could replay some as usually I'd made a mess of them during the day. But going back? Neh. When my round is over it's over. For better or worse. josmi15
At our local Muni's yes. In fact 2 weeks ago we decided since it was empty, we'd play #1 again. Rickp
Our group can be pretty fast. We are almost always 1st out in the morning and about 1/2 ahead of time so the Rangers tell us to play a couple holes over (8&9) so our wait at the turn isn't long. Of course it depends that the groups following us are not close to us. Something along the lines of $40 for only 18, $50-60 for all day if the tee sheet looks like it could handle the replays.the local 9 hole muni in Tallahassee you can pay $10 to walk and play as many holes as you like. I usually only play nine during the week after work, but it's nice to know I could play until I dropped if I want. There are a few courses in the area where you can pay one fee and play all day if you want, but I can't think where off the top of my head at the moment. Also one of the other advantages of being a member of a private club. Just sign in and go play. If you wanted to play more than 18 who cares as long as the course is open. GB13
There is a course at an American Indian casino nearby that has a $75 play all day rate. I personally believe that it is one of the best maintained courses in the country. It may not have the name recognition but it is so well maintained and on a beautiful piece of land that it is a wonderful hidden gem. Only problem is that it is so wide open, the lowest wind you will get is 20mph.
