Thanks guys we are riding it out here at home. Got plenty of supplies--- Several of my WRX buds in the area also riding it out but 2 of them did bug out. We will be ok the Good Lord looks after us. Funny I was talking with another member and we agreed it seems awkward to evacuate to Florida for a hurricane.

Yes prayers for everyone in the Carolinas. It was our turn at this time last year with Irma - she could have been worse.

Hopefully the flooding doesn't happen for you guys down there in So MD. Hopefully the latest predictions I saw of a cat 3 when it gets around Wilmington helps everyone out

Well, we are here in the Fort Mill Sc area which is basically south Charlotte, the major portion of the storm is predicted to stay north of us, but we will be getting some rain and wind 40 mph. They said if the storm shifts 50 miles to the west we will get hit really, really hard with 80 Mph winds and feet of rain which means flooding. We don't plan on having to leave the area, but we also need to be prepared for some possible bad scenarios.

I was in SC when Hugo hit in 1989.  I'm glad I don't live in a hurricane area; they are more frequent than Mt St. Helens eruptions.

If this storm shift south, we could get hit reeeealllly hard with rain and high winds. The prediction now is that Wilmington in NC will be slammed hard, but some models show that she is going to shift south and go straight into Myrtle Beach, which puts the Charlotte area, where I am located along with Johnsmalls, on the wrong side of her path. That will also put Big Stu down near the Charleston area a bit closer as well. We all pray she disappears, but it's not lookin good. Stay safe everyone that is closer to it. My labs are to start put, but that could change over the weekend depending on the rains and flooding that may occur

As someone who rode out Harvey here in Houston, now's not the time to be stubborn or macho. Keep your eyes on road conditions and be ready to evacuate if need be. Insurance is there for a reason but safety is priority. Carolina folks are tough but folks can get complacent when they haven't been in a storm in a few years. Just ask all the folks here in Houston. Y'all be safe.

Does anyone remember Hurricane Hugo?   I ask because some are suggesting that Florence could be a repeat of Hugo.   How bad was Hugo?   

 

In any event, those impacted please, please do what is necessary to remain safe.   Material items can be replaced, but lives cannot be.

I'm headed toward the East Coast at first light tomorrow to stage for the disaster. We'll be working utility transmission lines to restore services ASAP. I'll likely be in some of the hardest hit areas and my fellow Spies will definitely be in my thoughts.
