GolfSpy_APH
This January I am going to Naseby New Zealand to make ice for a curling event and being that I am from Atlantic Canada it's not a short trip and really want to tack on a few rounds when I am down there either at the front or back end of my trip. Are there any MGS members down there or who have been there that can recommend an courses in the area? Or even better any I can meet up with and show me some of the courses and what the area has to offer? I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it up to the North Island, however if it's where the best place to go is then I'll see if I can make it work to go. Any and all advice and help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks Jamie as of Nov 6, 2023 (Past WITB) Driver: Paradym TD w/ GD ADDI 6X Driver Shootout! Peaksy68
I haven't played there, as golf wasn't a priority (and it was winter) Some good looking courses, but pretty pricey for the best looking ones. The region you're going to is stunning, with amazing scenery. It also has some very good wineries if you are into wine, but there are a few very expensive tourist traps as well. I haven't been for a few years, but the good places a bit off the main roads will almost certainly still be great. How long will you have either side of your curling ice job? Probably not an option, but flights to Melbourne from NZ are reasonably cheap, and the golf around here is extraordinarily good value. Depending on how many rounds it might be cheaper to play here in Australia (and potentially better) than in NZ. It seems a bit surreal for someone to travel all that way to make ice! I imagine that it is a pretty specialised field. 849 Pro Evenflow Riptide 6.0 F8 3 & 5 Woods Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 TS2 7 Wood Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 MP18 MMC - Project X LZ 5.5 Zipcore Wedges 50,54,58 - Project X LZ 5.5 MLA Tour Mallet 33" Z Star Pioneer bag buggy

NiftyNiblick
New Zealand golf must really be tough. Imagine trying to line up a shot... and trying to not fall off the world at the same time! Just don't walk on the greens with those rugby boots. I haven't booked flights yet so we'll see how that all goes. I haven't booked flights yet so we'll see how that all goes. If I can find a few good spots or some cheaper flights it could be worth it to go to Australia for a bit and see what they have to offer. If you can, try to get most of extra days at one end, you'll have a lot more options that way. I'm not sure how it works in NZ, but getting a game on a less fancy members club is a great option here. Usually much cheaper, and playing with locals is an added bonus. Most mid range clubs in Aus are more than happy to accommodate visitors, especially those from other countries. It might be worth sending Nunfa a PM, pretty sure he'd be more than happy to give you the lowdown on how things work in NZ Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy 849 Pro Evenflow Riptide 6.0 F8 3 & 5 Woods Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 TS2 7 Wood Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 MP18 MMC - Project X LZ 5.5 Zipcore Wedges 50,54,58 - Project X LZ 5.5 MLA Tour Mallet 33" Z Star Pioneer bag buggy

Millbrook which is by Queenstown is fantastic, as are Arrowtown, Cromwell, Alexandra and so on.. GolfSpy_APH
Thanks for the reply! I am still finalizing a few dates with the competition and just starting looking at flights. Thankfully it's all pretty flexible and I'll see what I can do about getting flights out of Christchurch on either end. Nunfa0
Excellent, don't forget to bring summer clothes and plenty of sunscreen. You can expect a few 30+ degree celcius days while you're here. Oh and chances are that you will fly through Christchurch at some point. Nunfa0
You'll be fine, they have a great curling history and facility in Naseby. The place is tiny though...
