perseveringgolfer
Winter is fast approaching especially here in the North Jon Snow Usually I hit the range once a fortnight and try and improve fitness (unsuccessfully) This year I thought about investing in a winter package over 6 months of coaching (1 lesson a month) from a reputable pro on every aspect of my game and tailor solutions and drills for all my issues. silver & black
I won't be playing, that's for sure. I HATE COLD! I'm going to see about getting fit (equipment)... probably at GolfTec, because I don't know where else to go that's close. I really hope this won't be a waste of time and money. Mr. 82
Tee time will be around 8:00 am, instead of 7:00 am on Saturdays. I'll wear pants and maybe a pullover when needed when playing. I do hate dormant bermuda though, as it turns into hard pan, and makes it real hard to hit good approach shots. My handicap usually shoots up by a couple of shots once it gets colder. perseveringgolfer
for reminding me that winter is just around the corner. . :P I get reminded everytime I step over the door and my body is given a thousand cuts with the razor sharp cold winds. Interesting - I find it easier to play in the winter because there's much less rough and the ball goes farther. We must have different games. Regardless it is great to live in a place where you can play year around. Although it's been pretty dicey trying to play this summer, that's for certain. PlaidJacket
I'll keep playing all winter except for the 3 days of actual winter that usually visits my area. I don't think I'll be changing any equipment this winter or spring. However, I still might get a wild hair and have my KZG's refit and re-shafted with Aerotech. I'd still want to give them a try. Other than that I plan to work on my swing tempo and that's basically it. I'm not consistent with my tempo. I feel that's the only thing holding me back from potentially breaking par. I've come within 2-3 shots a few times this year so I know it's in there. RoverRick
Now that the BestGrips Open is over, I plan to spend time altering my swing. I have had several different swings this year, forced by injuries. I can't rotate my left elbow. It's now been 4 months, and it hasn't gotten appreciably more flexible so at 54, it may not ever come all the way back so it's time to adapt. I want to start from a more open stance, less back swing, more follow through. I experimented a bit with this but decided to work with what I had until after this event. tony@CIC
The biggest 'thing' for me will be fitness with a special focus on core muscle group. Also part of the fitness will be continuation of 'yoga for golf' Then comes the occasion driving range practice - just learned we have a range with heated bays but I'm not sure what the temp and ground cover limitations are. Lastly will be working on swing speed. However I'm not sure how I'm going to do that yet. Mr_Theoo
So lots of big plans for me. This past season was good and bad for me. I finally started practicing but didn't see as much of a score improvement as I had hoped I'll be refining my current swing. Work on the little things like set up, grip, posture. I plan to practice my full swing at least 2 times a week. I will be investing in a putting Mat to work on my stroke. I noticed I had lost a lot of skill from lack of practicing my putting. I also want to try super speed golf and maybe try to pick up a few mphs on my swing. Maybe reach that 170 ball speed number. I will also keep losing weight. Hope to hit 250 by dec 31st. deauxrite
Fortunately for me, winter in Southeast AZ is golf season. Our bentgrass does not go dormant so the greens will be perfect. Fairways will be a bit on the hard side since our rainy season is over in October and things begin to dry out a bit. My plan is to play 3 days per week with three different groups. The first group is a social outing with golf as the center piece..lots of laughter and some interesting side bets on bad shots . The second group is a very competitive group that takes their golf seriously..lots of good golf with these guys. The third group just plays for fun and has a good time every week. Beyond that activity, I will practice two days a week for an hour each day. That routine changes based on what needs work the most. I have a Mizuno fitting in October and that will be an interesting experience. I have not committed to changing from my Pings, but I am looking.
