perseveringgolfer 4,794
Winter is fast approaching especially here in the North Jon Snow Usually I hit the range once a fortnight and try and improve fitness (unsuccessfully) This year I thought about investing in a winter package over 6 months of coaching (1 lesson a month) from a reputable pro on every aspect of my game and tailor solutions and drills for all my issues. Havent done it before and seems a good idea as he'll get to know my swing and not just a quick fix but a continuation of improvements, I need 'em What are you planning? 2 Quote Driver Awaiting NEW Driver (after 10 yrs) 4 Wood Callaway Big Bertha Steelhead plus 4+ Callaway shaft in 'Firm' flex Hybrid Titleist 910H 19* Diamana ahina 'flower' shaft in 'S' Irons Mizuno MP18SC 4-PW N.S Pro Modus3 Tour 105 in 'S' Wedges Callaway Mack Daddy forged in black 50* and 54* KBS Tour in 'R' Putter 'YES' Tracy 11 C groove 34.5"
silver & black 5,628
I won't be playing, that's for sure. I HATE COLD! I'm going to see about getting fit (equipment)... probably at GolfTec, because I don't know where else to go that's close. I really hope this won't be a waste of time and money.

Mr. 82 3,858
Tee time will be around 8:00 am, instead of 7:00 am on Saturdays. I'll wear pants and maybe a pullover when needed when playing. I do hate dormant bermuda though, as it turns into hard pan, and makes it real hard to hit good approach shots. My handicap usually shoots up by a couple of shots once it gets colder. And yeah, there's a reason I live in Florida. All you northerners and your snow can have it. perseveringgolfer 4,794
for reminding me that winter is just around the corner. . :P I get reminded everytime I step over the door and my body is given a thousand cuts with the razor sharp cold winds. Not sure I can cope with another long winter (last years was 7 terrible months). There is a HUGE market in Scotland for a prestige INDOOR golf centre- If I won the lottery I would set one up. I've shoveled my share of snow knowing enough to know I hate it and will never go back. Interesting - I find it easier to play in the winter because there's much less rough and the ball goes farther. We must have different games. Regardless it is great to live in a place where you can play year around. Although it's been pretty dicey trying to play this summer, that's for certain. Current possibilities are a Ping 26 degree hybrid - duplicates the 9 wood or 5 iron but would be used almost exclusively for chipping or Tour Exotics 3 wood simply because you can carry 14 clubs and I might occasionally hit it in certain unusual wind conditions once every four or five rounds. PING Apologist #9 4,562
Last year we played all the way into November and then I even played twice in January! This year, who knows, but so long as there's no snow on the ground and it's at least 50 out I'll hit it. Gotta work on my iron game, be it at the range or at home into my net. Hope the pending shaft change from regular to stiff in all my irons will have a positive impact. PlaidJacket 7,725
I'll keep playing all winter except for the 3 days of actual winter that usually visits my area. I don't think I'll be changing any equipment this winter or spring. However, I still might get a wild hair and have my KZG's refit and re-shafted with Aerotech. I'd still want to give them a try. Other than that I plan to work on my swing tempo and that's basically it. I'm not consistent with my tempo. I feel that's the only thing holding me back from potentially breaking par. I've come within 2-3 shots a few times this year so I know it's in there. 3 Quote My Sun Mountain bag currently includes: 771CSI 5i - PW and PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges EXS 10.5*, 929-HS FW4 16.5* Willimette w/GolfPride Contour
RoverRick 1,545
Now that the BestGrips Open is over, I plan to spend time altering my swing. I have had several different swings this year, forced by injuries. I can't rotate my left elbow. It's now been 4 months, and it hasn't gotten appreciably more flexible so at 54, it may not ever come all the way back so it's time to adapt. I want to start from a more open stance, less back swing, more follow through. I experimented a bit with this but decided to work with what I had until after this event. tony@CIC 17,410
The biggest 'thing' for me will be fitness with a special focus on core muscle group. Also part of the fitness will be continuation of 'yoga for golf' Then comes the occasion driving range practice - just learned we have a range with heated bays but I'm not sure what the temp and ground cover limitations are. Lastly will be working on swing speed. However I'm not sure how I'm going to do that yet. Jbmullin 782
First off need to lose some weight, goal is 50 pounds. I purchased a big net and turf to hit off of in my garage, until I break a window that will keep up. They just opened an indoor golf simulation facility so will likely hit that up , and thinking about a couple indoor lessons.
