DPattGolf
Yea I thought his move to Titleist was a bit odd from the start with Vokey there (And his supposed successor in Aaron Dill). Considering he wasn't really getting any Tour use I totally get the decision to move away from Titleist. Fair play to JP. Vokey was already a solid brand before they even signed JP. I thought his multicomponent wedges looked pretty cool—I know there were a few die hard JP fans who felt he sold out. My guess is Dill hit the gas when he saw JP come in as a usurper. Leaned on Vokey, whom he had a long history with, about how he was being cut out. Vokey starts pushing Dill with the execs. Plus Dill has a relationship with tour staff. etc... Titleist maybe figured they owned the IP on JP's stuff anyway. JP's designs were always going to be niche and you don't just throw an established brand like Vokey away. chisag
... I am probably in the minority on this subject but wedges are instruments that pound the ground taking deep divots, splash thru deep rough and in general take a pretty good beating. I am not a fashion guy and have never worn a watch or any kind of jewelry so accessorizing my wedge is something I have zero interest in doing. And paying extra for that service just seems like a waste of money, especially since we replace our wedges more than any other club in our bag if we play a lot. ... That said, I get there are those that want bling and are willing to pay for it and of course nothing wrong with that. But I think this will always be a niche product and never something that can be mass produced by an OEM. Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Ventus Red Velocore 5R Fairway: Qi10 5 wood ... I figured I was not alone. When I received a custom Scratch Wedge for review I was asked what graphics I wanted on it. I said I wanted the Big S logo to promote the wedge and the company and then the loft. Clean and simple. When it arrived I was surprised to find CHISAG stamped on it. It was a very nice gesture but not something I wanted. It did not influence my review one way or the other but it is now in my sons bag and he always has to explain what CHISAG means. Thankfully he doesn't mind having his paps golf forum moniker on his wedge, especially since it was free and I put an x100 shaft tipped 1" in it for him. Driver: Qi10 10.5* ...
