tony@CIC
Anyone see the ad for the new Garmin Z80 LRF? Personally I think there's too much information on the screen. And yeah it's important for me to know the distance within 10" of the pin. Not! Well maybe if you a low handicapper that matters - I'm just trying to get the ball on the green. Think I'll stick with my NX7 Pro so far it's served me well. Golfspy_CG2
I have one and love it! And yes, like you I don't need to know within a couple feet the the distance, but where it is a tremendous help is blind shots. So it's sitting right in the cart, and I can pick it up look in the viewfinder, it doesn't even have to be pointed at the hole, and see the distance to the green, or any hazards in front of it. I do use the laser function quite a bit as well on the tee of par 3's or the fairway for approach shots. It's awesome really, gives you the carry distance of a bunker (GPS) and the distance to the flag (laser) all in one quick glance. I would have a hard time using any other laser range finder now...ha G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number

No ability to move a cursor, it just shows green side bunker and the distance to the front and back of it. PlaidJacket
I just purchased a new PP - NX7 (the one with slope and buzz) and thought it worked very well. And I only paid $188 by getting a $60 discount for signing up for an Amazon Store Card. After watching the Garmin Z80 ad I'd not have any use for the hole design graphic. Had that on my old SkyCaddy and never used it one time referring only to the F,M,B numbers. I do think the Z80 is a good looking device and I think I do like that the GPS is displayed across the bottom. I currently use a small Garmin Approach G10 GPS that I clip to the cart and like having the F,M,B reading to consider after I've laser'd the pin. So those two readings combined I think I'd like. I don't need the display showing me the hole # I'm on. My S10 does that too but I'm pretty sure I know that already. As for the 10" accuracy..... I think I could use that for declaring gimmies while putting. The $600 price of the Z80 is also more than I'm willing to pay. But overall I like the Z80 sans the hole graphic. Mr. 82
It looks fancy, but honestly, I can't afford to be dropping the kind of money they are asking for this "toy". My Garmin Approach S20 is more than sufficient for my needs at the moment. I have a (dying) laser in my bag, but I honestly can't remember the last time I pulled it out to shoot a number. For me, I look at the GPS on my wrist, identify where the pin is and pick a club based on a pretty accurate number. And honestly, who here has the game to need to know an EXACT number? It's 150 to the middle of the green and it's uphill. Pin looks like it's in the back, so it's playing 160+. Pulling 7 iron. Next hole, it's 145 to the middle, but the pin is in the front and it's downhill, so playing about 130-135 - PW. I'm just not good enough to need the exact number honestly. give me the middle number, factor in whatever elevation and wind is going on and pick a club based on a 5-10 yard variance. And honestly, I have yet to hit a good shot and walk up to the hole after getting the middle number and flag location and say to myself, "You know, I wish I had known the exact yardage, because it sure would have been nice to hit that 2 yards shorter."
