It hasn’t on the course for me but I have been a little off my top numbers during the protocols particularly lefty. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpyI'm seeing the exact same thing with my speeds training. I can't quite swing the sticks as fast, but the results on the course are great. I haven't used the radar on the course or the range in the last couple of weeks, just trying to focus on my technique and the radar tends to make me over swing. Also, I find it interesting that you first saw a speed difference with your irons. Mine still aren't showing much improvement, but I've always had a bit of a mental block with them. I used to game a set I bought from a guys at work that were in no way suited for me at the time. Stiff shaft, and hard to get airborne. My Cobra's are easy to hit and I have loads of confidence in them, but I just can't really let loose with them. I appreciate you sharing your swing thought with your irons and I think I might give that a try. revkev
Thanks sirchunks! I’ve also recalled that a mental image of a step through really works with driver for me. I've seen the same, alittle off my top numbers from about 2 months back, but a few pages ago (or back) I did pose what I thought was a very pertinent question: is it possible that as we begin to take more GOLFING swings than just "speed rips" and one finally begins to outweight the other, would we see a "regression to the means?" My issue isn’t that I’ve just started playing golf again - it’s that work is so busy that I can’t fit three workouts in - I’m working weeks where I have one day or no days off. That will continue until school ends (two more weeks). From my observation what SuperSpeed calls a plateau is a drop - I’ve had a few times during the eight months of training where I’ve lost speed for a couple of weeks. In the end my speed remains up when I hit golf balls - I’m driving the ball much farther and hitting shorter irons into greens and or reaching greens that I couldn’t a year ago. L.I. Rich
I’ve got two weeks of results to post. The first day of week one, I measured my driver speed on the radar prior to starting the protocol. Measured speed was 103. Green Blue Red Right Left Right Left Right Left Week 1 130 123 120 119 120 111 Week 2 128 122 115 114 113 111 Following the 3rd session of week one, I tested my driver again and reached 111. Week two I did sessions 1 & 2 on Monday & Tuesday, skipped session 3 and driver test. The 130 entry in week 1 was recorded in session 1. Didn’t come close in session 2, hit 123 in session 3. Is the gap between green & red max similar to what others have seen? I played a match on Thursday, followed by a scramble. Won the match and the scramble (yay). I drove the ball quite well most of the day until late in the day when I began missing left. I felt I was on my back foot and couldn’t snap out of it. I played Saturday and it was a continuation of the hooks. On my back foot, poor tempo, ugh. I hit two fairways the whole day, and they were grounders that made it through the teeing area. I obviously didn’t score well, but my irons, wedges and putter were working, so I posted a high/average round. Actually struck my irons quite well. edingc
I broke down and ordered the Stability Mat at the beginning of the month, and it finally arrived today. Found a good deal online and got it for $37 delivered. All I can say is: Buy the mat! I had been trying to do kneeling swings on a piece of cardboard. The mat is so much better. Saw a few 103 and 104 mile per hour swings on my Swing Caddie today during my range session, including one estimated carry of 252 yards. That is very promising. And tonight's training session yielded my best green club swing yet: My on course results haven't been as great, but my speed is definitely improved from last season. revkev, GolfSpy BOS, Barley Spargewater and 6 others 9 Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Your training numbers confuse me a bit (not to be insulting), I'm not yet understanding where the speed goes on the driver SS though? You've been posting all the same and comparable numbers I've reported for some time I think but from your reports the driver SS hasn't played up to full potential yet? Holding back on the driver? You've been posting all the same and comparable numbers I've reported for some time I think but from your reports the driver SS hasn't played up to full potential yet? Holding back on the driver? Thanks! No offense taken at all. It's a little disheartening, though I'm not at all surprised. I have a bit of a complex once I get on the course - I tend to forget everything I've worked on and start getting really out of sorts at times. I especially fight a hitting impulse that is a speed killer. (I say I'm not surprised because as a baseball player I'd randomly go through stretches where I'd just forget how to throw from third to first. Like air mailing first base by 10 feet kind of stuff. Oh well, we're not all cut out to be major league players or professional golfers .) For example, without a ball I can swing the driver "dry" routinely in the mid-110s on the radar. Today before my round I hit 105 with my fastest swing while hitting a ball, with many around 102-103. I've been taking the SuperSpeed radar and sticks with me to the range in an effort to fix some of that. I take a few swings with the sticks, a few dry swings with the driver, and then hit a ball or two. If the speed isn't great, I go back to sticks or dry swings and try to carry that feeling to actually hitting the ball. EDIT: @Trial&Error I looked back at your posts and one major difference between you and me is that your blue and red club numbers are much higher than mine on average. I occasionally see mid-120s with the blue club and saw 119 once with the red club, but my averages are much lower and I'd consider these high numbers an anomaly. I would say my typical blue swing is between 119-121 and my typical red swing is 112-114. In fact, during the second protocol I've seen the biggest gains in the green club and all of my lefthanded stuff. The blue and red clubs have remained rather stagnant or even dropped a bit from level one. Maybe that has something to do with this as well. Might be a thing to focus on as I continue my training. cnosil, L.I. Trial&Error
@edingc that's great man and that's why I'm glad we have alot of these things in type here so we can go back and reference just as you have. Glad you were able to do that and yeah you've got speed on tap when needed. I did this today with you on my mind to report back and also so I can confirm or not if my numbers are still steady or not. Yesterday, my level 3 training numbers were Green 134, Blue 131 and Red 124. Went to range today, very brief warmup with 15 9 irons and then hit 12 drivers for recording data (just regular swings, no craziness). Driver swings I had one "stinker" low of 109mph, highest of 117mph, and averaged 113.08mph for all. I'll start Level 4 weeks end this week, let's just keep banging it out! cnosil, sirchunksalot, edingc and 2 others

I actually feel like I tend to struggle with the lightest stick and yet can get pretty decent numbers with the heavier ones. Seems the same with the actual drivers too. Part of my trip out today was just to also test speeds of two very different drivers I have, one being especially heavy...........and ironically I can still swing it the same speed as the much lighter one. Try it again soon - good days and bad days you know.I didn’t use any swing speed devices today because I just wanted to hit a few shots with every club - haven’t swung a club for a week and wanted to remember what the clubs looked like.Warmed up, hit wedge, 9,,8 got to 7 and started to reach the flag that I was aiming aid so I grabbed my range finder expecting to see 165 or so pop up - 172! Grabbed 6 iron and started knocking it past. I was waving good by to the 185 flag with the 4 hybrid and way past the farther flag that was 230 with driver. L.I. Rich
2/3’s of the way through week three now. So far no bumps in max speeds in training. I had a range session last night to try to work through the driving trouble I had on Saturday. I warmed up, went to the short game area and had a good session. Moved on to the range and was really pleased with the mid irons. Crisp strikes, on target, very consistent. When I took out the 3w and driver, I had all sorts of difficulties executing a swing. I kept swinging as though I was trying to knock the cover off the ball with the consequent effect that I was off balance with poor tempo and shots going everywhere but down the range. It took me about an hour to regain some control and actually swing, not HIT! KILL! the ball. I feared I might be susceptible to this sort of thing, my teachers have always worked hard to get me out of hitting mode and into swinging mode. Has anyone else struggled with this? As @Trial&Error stated, you'll start seeing your own patterns begin to emerge. For me, the real jump in training speeds happened in week 4. I've also noticed that during the next two workout protocols that I see a pattern of regression at the start of a new protocol and slight gains here and there up until two weeks before the end and that's where I see my best numbers. The final two weeks my speed goes down a bit. As far as driver speed goes, you will see gains probably between weeks 6 and 9, it takes a while for everything to click. When it does, it's amazing. I'm still in a maintenance phase right now but I'm planning on jumping back into training next week once we go back to ten hour days at work and I can no longer play during the week. I am about 3 weeks in and have developed a major swing issue and I am not sure if it is from this or the fact that I just do not practice any more. There have been some comments about this throughout the thread. I don’t have any proof other than it not being my norm but as I got toward week 8 I developed a push/slice with all my clubs. Been dealing with that for a couple of weeks but seem to be getting back on track. revkev
Anyway, I do find it curious that my iron striking has improved while I’ve gone into hit mode with the driver.Yes - a few times depending upon the drills in the protocol. So I had some issues at about the point you are at, also whenever it was the kneeling swings started. Both times the issues went away quickly. You should also know that SuperSpeed claims that you will hit the ball farther and more consistently if you focus on swinging fast (not hard) on the course. They’ve done extensive testing on this. You may wish to send an email to them, they will respond and you can discuss it with them. If it helps I think of the step through when hitting driver - I also think of that drill and visualize the ball flying high with a slight draw right down the middle on my last 3 swings part of the protocol. Also I was one of the few testers who found that my irons improved ahead of my driver, quality of ball strike and distance. We are all different so while we may collectively reflect SuperSpeed’s data we will have distinctively individual results. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy cnosil, L.I. L.I. Rich
Thank you RevKev. I think I will reach out to them, it can only help. I will have to figure out how to differentiate and focus on fast as opposed to hard. I don’t want to think about mechanics on the course (of course :-)). It’s good to hear you describe the improvement in your iron striking. One of the things I’ve noticed is that my iron ball striking has improved quite a bit. Really crisp, centered, squared up. Stock distances are now former max distances. revkev, cnosil, JAGolfore and 1 other 4
In my bag: Ping G LS Tec 9* Tour 65 Stiff, Cobra F8 3-4 wood HZRDUS Yellow 6.0, Calloway 21* X Forged Utility iron (steel stiff), Ping G30 white dot 4-9 Stiff 110 gm KBS tours Scor 48,52,56,60 Wedges, Nike Method Core MC3

I am about 3 weeks in and have developed a major swing issue and I am not sure if it is from this or the fact that I just do not practice any more. Yes for me, as described above. I think I need to make sure I get some range time in to make sure I can keep the club (particularly driver) swing a good golf swing. I am cutting across the ball resulting in pull hooks. I believe this is from the speed sticks as I tend to swing more around my body as I do not want to hit the ground. I am sure I will work it out. I really enjoy the speed sticks though. revkev, cnosil and sirchunksalot 3 Driver: Callaway Rogue 9* FW: Sub 70 Pro 4 wood Hybrid: Sub 70 949 Hybrid 19* Irons: Sub 70 659 CB 4 - 6 Black 639 MB 7 - PW Wedges: Sub 70 JB - 50* 54* & 60* Putter: Odyssey White Hot #2 Ball: Titleist Pro-V1x Handicap index: +3.9 Instagram: joshandersongolf Twitter: @jacustomgolf
