Week 1 in the books and numbers are posted below.  Overall the training is pretty straight forward and quick to complete.  Numbers with the set have increased a little bit and the left side swings are becoming a less awkward.  Haven't had a chance to get to the course to see how my swing is doing,  but have been doing most wanted iron testing and my distances seem up a little from my normal club distances.  Hoping to get to the course tomorrow so maybe I can judge some distances on the actual course.

Excellent starting numbers cnosil! One of the amazing things about this training is the ease of doing it, you swing a club a few times every couple of days. I was working a lot of overtime before Christmas and didn't find it to be inconvenient at all.

P.S. I'm jealous of the iron testing and can't wait to see the results.

Those do look like great numbers, @cnosil. I think you're going to be very, very happy with the results you'll see.

Well, I made it through week 8. But, with anything expected to take 72 weeks, life and health got in the way. I went in and had a procedure done to drain/remove a cyst on my back. Looks like I'm on the bench for a couple of weeks.

What is the protocol for recovering from missed time. Is it start over at the beginning, or pick up at the point you left off?

I would think that a couple of weeks off would still allow you to keep going from where you left off. Anything longer than that, I would probably start over the protocol that you're on. The best bet would probably be to get in touch with either Kyle or Daisy and see what they recommend.

I hope your back gets to feeling better soon.

A weird thing is happening. My left handed swings are starting to get faster than a lot of my right handed swings. Is this supposed to happen?  Was my left side that weak from never using it in a swing?  Was my body that imbalanced regarding strength?  Anyone else experience this?

Yep although I have never been faster on regular swings green lefty than righty I have at some time or another with everything else. I’m pretty consistently faster lefty than righty on kneeling down swings.

Hit this today with my blue stick, which is the heaviest in my set.20190304_164242-01.jpeg
It's the fastest swing, by 5 mph, that I've ever gotten with it. The funny thing is, all my fastest swings today on my dominant side were within 3 mph of each other, 116, 114,113. This training confuses me sometimes.

Awesome! Congratulations. These things really are pretty amazing.

(I did my protocol again today sans radar. I called the company this afternoon and the woman on the phone was very nice, apologized for my wait on responses as I hadn't heard anything for a week, and is sending out a screen free of charge. To quote her, "You aren't the first and won't be the last." Hahaha.)

Way to go!  i think sometimes you just get that swing were everything is in sequence and you get a big jump.

I have a question which may sound odd.  When swinging your sticks,  do you try to maintain golf swing or do you just swing all out?

I've chosen to go all out. I mean, there is still some semblance of a golf swing there, but I definitely push myself. Personally, I found that after one or two sessions going all out I was better able to make the all out swing very golf like.

All out - that’s what SuperSpeed recommends. I try to go as fast as I can with every swing and you are spot on about the fact that sometimes everything clicks. This is especially true of the crazy drills like the step change and the double step. I found that pretending I was pitching from the stretch helped with the step change and wind up works for the double step. I know I’ve mentioned it before but I think, Blake Snell, when doing the double step lefty. I’ve gotten over 110 a few times doing that. 108 with the blue and red clubs - lefty!

I had the very same question when I started as I was afraid that I would learn bad habits. Everyone reassured me to go all out and I do. Some of my left handed swings end up being almost a walk through swing ala Gary Player. I keep practicing my golf swing and mechanics as well....and I haven’t noticed any issues.

So I am halfway through week two of the training.   While I haven't swing on a course for a while due to the weather,  I regularly get to take swings as part of most wanted testing.    I looked back at the "Your 6 iron speed" thread where I had posted a swing speed of 86 MPH with a 7 iron prior to starting the test.  Today on the same GC Quad I was getting some surprising distance with 7 irons during testing and when I looked at swing speed, my 7 iron swing speeds were over 90 MPH.  While I haven't measured driver speed again,  it seems like I have gotten about a 5% increase in swing speed.  I have not noticed any degradation in my swing, in fact I seem to be hitting the ball much more solidly than in the past.    At this point all I can say is so far, so good.

So, I'm hoping that my beginner protocol swing speed increase was permanent. I made it through week 8 session two and then had to stop. I had a cyst on my back that needed some medical attention this past weekend. (Much better now.) Altogether I've missed almost two weeks, and at least for the next several days still have a hole in my back.

My intention is to pick it back up next week at the beginning of protocol 1 (week 7).

Just a general performance update. Last few range sessions I took the radar with me and had driver speeds consistently around 104 with an occasional 105+. I attended the Tampa GolfFest demo day (not a very big event) but managed to win my age group in the skills contest (drive, chip, putt) mostly on the strength of 3/4 drives in the grid at 270+ yards (despite a swing that had some obvious flaws on the video replay)

I start summer league play in a couple of weeks, so I'm hoping the SuperSpeed drills and some more range time will result in a rise in the standings from the middle of the pack. I started a League Play From the Middle of the Pack thread where I will record my performance and include course review. Hope you all follow along.

I'm glad your cyst removal went well and is good to hear that you'll be able to get back to training so soon. Great job on the speed gains! Also, good luck to you in league play. I believe the extra yards you've picked up will be a great benefit as you're trying to compete. I'll definitely follow along with you on your journey.

I had a realization today that I might be doing the ASD 2 exercises wrong. I watched the video a couple of times before starting them, but somehow had it stuck in my mind that we had to do the standing ones with our feet together. I rewatched it again today and saw they were supposed to be apart.

But, before starting I did a half swing test with the heavy stick and saw a 12 percent difference in my full and half swing. I did another test today after the warm up and saw the number had deceased to 9 percent. Progress!

Well I’m seeing a result that is similar to my last plateau which also occurred after the advent of kneeling swings. My speeds are a bit off right handed (I hit 109 left handed with the red club yesterday). As a reminder the ASD that I’m doing includes six recoil (both way) swings with each club kneeling.

I don’t know what this will mean to actual driver swing speed. I haven’t been on the range in over a week or the course in a month. Today is my first full day off in 22 days so the range is a possibility later and I have a tee time Sunday after church (score one for daylight savings time)

To be fair though all of my workouts have been rushed and in the morning so not conducive to speed for me. Also my back has been barking at me. Went to the chiropractor yesterday afternoon and had it adjusted. It feels pretty good this morning - much better than the last few days.

@revkev We look forward to the update though if you get the chance on the range, and the course.

Yesterday morning I was able to set new records with my Green and Red, and missed my highest blue swing by 1mph. I don't particularly think it means anything, I only took note as the last 2-3 weeks I had seemed to be stuck in a consistent range as far as I could tell. Yesterday could just be an outlier

It's not weird.  I believe most of us have observed this as well.  Think about it.  What's better... pulling the club down from the top of your backswing with your dominant side, or pushing the club down with your dominant side? Pulling gets the club in the slot; pushing tends to promote over-the-top moves and a swing that relies more on body rotation, which is slower than letting the arms release.  Most of us amateurs tend to overuse our dominant side on the downswing, I know I do.

Knowing what I know now, I would have started playing golf left-handed even though I was totally uncoordinated.  The only downside was the lack of LH clubs!!

Sorry for not being on the topic much lately; I've been depressed by the month-long snow storms and below freezing temperatures.  We still have snow, but the forecast is for warmer weather, and we might finally get rid of this sh!t in a week or two.

I haven't done a protocol since February 2, and that was only one day after a two week trip to AZ, so I really haven't done any training since January 17.  I've chatted with Daisy via email, and I am going to revert back to the end of the Level 2 protocol for a week.  If I have similar speeds as I did in January, then I will start Level 3 over again.  If my speed is down, I will continue Level 2 until I get to my January numbers.

I really hate being so far behind the rest of my testing peers, but I'm committed to the full 72 weeks of the SuperSpeed training regimen.  I hope that comes before the next snowfall!!!

Just finished Week 7 of phase 2 (13 weeks in all now).  Last couple of weeks I've only been able to do the protocol twice a week - I changed jobs last month and my schedule has shifted a little (taking the 6:29 AM commuter train instead of the 8:20 AM), so I'm doing the protocols after work instead of before (except Friday when I work from home).  I was wondering what the effect would be on my swing speed.  Pretty interesting result today, I hit new highs on all the clubs on my dominant side, but all the lefty swings were down a bit.

Like Kenny, lots of snow and cold here (14" on Monday, it's been in the teens since Tuesday, and another snow storm scheduled for Sunday, but with any luck it'll change over to rain and start warming up).

@KennyB hopefully the weather will clear up for you soon and you'll be able to get back at it. Not having a place to do the protocols indoors can be frustrating some times. It sounds like you have a good plan for starting back, when the opportunity comes around.
@Mike Lambert keep up the good work! Those are some pretty impressive numbers you're putting up. Don't worry too much about the left handed swings, I think we all have had stretches where we've seen both drop offs and gains on that side. I'm anxious to see your gains when you're able to get outside and hit some balls.

Makes total sense. Although I don’t know if I would want to be a left handed golfer. I always hear them complaining that the club they want isn’t available in a LH model.

Just finished week 23 workouts.  My back is much better so typical morning workout today which means speed a little off my top speeds but much better than at the start.  For kicks I hit a few drivers into the net and measured out at 102 average which is off the 104.4 for a few weeks ago but significantly better than the 91 to start.  It should also be noted that the 104 was on a nice warm, afternoon and the 102 on a cool morning - I've clearly established that I'm faster in the afternoon.

I did have one record swing this week - left handed red club 109 which is not only the fastest left handed swing with the red or blue club it is the fastest swing with the red club period.

Did I mention that I don't like kneeling swings?  🙂

Impressive stuff there Rev.   109 left handed is faster than anything I have left handed and faster than my red right handed and I thought I was getting better coordination with my left handed swings.  Hoping I see that kind of performance in 21 more weeks.

Really wish the temperatures would get out of the 40s when I am doing my sessions!

My next question....  My nature is wanting to try and swing these faster and faster.   The first protocol sessions are pretty short .... 39 swings which doesn't take long.   Does anyone keep trying to swing faster after that do the prescribed protocol or are we just supposed to stop?  I am sure there is some kind of fatigue factor that would get involved but I really want to experiment with technique to see what might make me go faster and 3 swings really isn't enough to do tweaks.  Basically I am motivated to do more,  not to shortcut the protocols,  but to try and get better.

Yes, I confess that I’ve thrown in an extra swing now and again. I will do this particularly at the end to push myself and leave on a high note. None of my record speeds have come on an “extra” swing.

The 109 lefty Red was a double step where everything aligned perfectly.
