The best feeling in golf is...

The sweetest feeling I have experienced in golf was not breaking the sub-80 round the first time.  It was doing it the second time that was the best feeling.  Knowing that the first time wasn't a fluke gave me the confidence to do it 3 times since.

On a side note, I have had many hole outs over the years but never had a hole in one.  I assume that if/when that happens that will be my new number one.

my best feeling is the iron shot that is struck so purely off the sweet spot then flies beautifully to the green, you hardly even feel the shot off the face it's so well struck, sounds beautiful too.

First would be playing a round with my son and watching him learn and enjoy the game. Second would be a pure mid iron that ends up stone dead.

I've got one that's special to me:

Teeing up the first ball on hole 1

Think about all the steps and *work* it takes to get a round together.

Setting up a time to play, coordinating with your partners, clearing your schedule, getting a blessing from SWMBO all need to take place before this is even a thought. In between approval and the round you may even hit the range, catch a lesson, mentally plan your round, and check the weather. Fast forward to gameday you pick out your outfit, make a few club choices, select the balls you'll be playing, load up the bag, plan your meals and drinks, then drive to the course (sometimes a longer drive than others). Once you've arrived at the course, you check in, load up, warm up and practice. Then, FINALLY, make your way to the first tee.

The first tee represents potential. You could have the round of your life today. You could see something you've never seen, experience something you've never felt, or make a new connection. The first tee is a blank slate which opens opportunity to your adventure for the next 4 hours of your life. You will be at peace in nature without distraction from the outside world. You can write your day however you want. Nerves are coursing through your veins as you step up to put the first mark on your story. Playing partners and passerbys watching. Maybe there's money on the line, maybe there's glory, maybe there's pride. This shot is the first step in your journey. You've worked hard to get to this point and it's now time to deliver.

A purely struck shot is certainly the best physical feeling but teeing that first ball is undeniably the best spiritual feeling in golf. In today's society of rush rush rush, it's easy for people to take this moment for granted. Next time you stand on the first tee, take a moment to think about all the effort that has led you to where you stand.

When you see a shot and then execute it. No better sense of satisfaction.

A pure hit with any club is good

a good flop to save is good

a long birdie putt is good

playing with your best friends is good

but the best, is finishing the 18th clean, with a career low round, which included numerous of the above

1. A hole in one
2. That perfectly hit iron shot, you never even feel it off the face
3. Beating your previous low round
4. Reading the break perfectly and watching your putt go in as planned
5. Hitting it squarely on the sweet spot and watching the longest drive of the day.

For me it’s when you’re behind a tree or playing a dogleg hole and you say “Watch this ball, I’m gonna try to hit (insert whatever shot you’re trying to hit”) and you hit it exactly how you planned.

Maybe not the best feeling, but it feels pretty great to get a notification that you've been chosen to review a product you really wanted, one for which you think you could do a review that could be helpful to others on this forum.

OK..I have had a hole in one and that is special.

I have had several eagles..that is very speical

Hitting a 6 iron to 3 feet up hill into the wind..that is special.

The 25 footer, left to right down hill for birdie is special.

Having a sunny spring day with your friends..playing 18 and then a cold refreshing beverage on the patio..that is my idea of an unbeatable day!!

A well struck ball whether is driver, Iron, wedge, or been putter is the best feeling. No matter what the outcome is, it is the strike that I focus on.

I say no matter the outcome, because I have hit a long Iron that struck the flagstick and bounced into the water looked like an ace but ended up as a bogey, and I have also hit a shot off the heel of a club that bounced off the rail of a bridge that was a sure bogey that ended up as a birdie.

  • a hole out from a decent distance. (never had an ACE but I'm sure that tops anything)
  • a holed put from a distance of 10' or more or a wild break
  • landing on the green from a distance (100 yds or more)
  • a blistered drive
  • playing golf PERIOD!
