Wow. I knew some guys who made a point of playing their foursome at least once 12 months out of the year, in Ohio. They were out there with orange golf balls in snow some years...crazy “kids.”

A few years back, we played ice hockey on the lake on Friday night, and then played golf on Saturday, in Michigan.

I've played a lot of rounds is AZ over the years.  When I was working, I had an annual meeting in either Phoenix, Tucson, or Palm Desert, CA in July.  Great courses at great rates!!  However, my wife got heat stroke many years ago here at home when it was 110º, and every time we play in hot spots, she tends to get sick; bad experience one year at TPC Scottsdale in July.  It doesn't affect me, but we have to be careful when we play when the temps are over 100º.

The heat can really get to some that are sensitive to it, have to be careful that’s for sure. Hope she is ok since the incident. I get a little light headed at times after lining up a putt and I have lived here my whole life.

Depends on the time of year. In the Wisconsin spring if the course is open and its above 40 I'm playing. In the fall it needs to be a little warmer. Maybe 41 degrees .

Last weekend for us for golfing coming up and its calling for 4c (39F) .. there is still snow in small portions of the course from last weekend , but I want one more go.

I would likely golf below 0 as long as there was no wind chill.

I live in AZ and I have played in 120*. Not really too enjoyable but hey it is better than chores at home. Not really to bad unless it is monsoon season and the humidity is 60% at 115* out, that is unbearable. I really just do not like to play when it is super windy, no fun, like being in a hair dryer. Take lots of water and usually am good to go. Go through a lot of gloves in the summer. It is 80* here now so golf is great. Golf is also really cheap at some great tracks in the summer.

looking at the comments, it looks like we're the minority in here. In the Phoenix area, we don't have to worry about cold weather golf one bit.. but while most of the country is enjoying the regular golf season, we're battling heat stroke in 110+ weather. When I was a youngster, playing in 110 - 120* was no biggie. Now (at 39) I won't go out if it's anything over 105*.. Even then I have to worry about dehydration and night time muscle spasms and horrific leg cramps from loss of minerals.  getting old is so overrated!

Now as we start to see comments about putting the clubs away for the winter, we're licking our chops for newly seeded, green courses and enjoyable cool weather... not too thrilled about X3 fees though.

Well, if there's no snow or heavy rain, you can find me on the golf course.

So that basically means, 30's and up with a 30mph wind or less.

Ditto..Oh wait I live outside Seattle, as long as it's not pouring rain when I tee off.. and there is no snow on the course I'm good... Me and a friend made plans to play a few years ago a cold front moved in ( not a Florida cold front where it gets to umm 65 and they are all wearing parkas) like freezing high 20's low 30's.. call the course to make sure they were still playing, We tee'd off on 10, the fairways were ok, the greens were hard as a cart path, but we didn't care we were playing and  had a great time.. for 9 holes then we were done, to cold but still had fun..

On the cold side of things, I don't like playing below the mid 40s. I will still get out there in the 30s on certain occassions, but those are rare. On the other side of the spectrum, I haven't found a temperature too hot to golf. The last few years I've had a few golfcations in Phoenix during August and have played in 111°. Haven't had a chance to golf in any hotter than that, but I wouldn't shy away from it! I play much better in the heat

It is the best time of year here in a couple weeks once the seeding is complete. 70-80 degrees and sunny. Hard to beat AZ fall / winter golf. Only downside is all the snowbirds on the courses and the jacked up rates that are a result of it

50 or better and I’m down.  Denver mostly feels warm even when it’s below that as long as the sun is shining.  I’ve seen snow melting when it’s below 20°.  The sun really beats down on us up here.  If it’s sunny and 42°, it is pretty comfortable.  If it’s blowing, no way.

When I played a couple weeks ago it was 0° C (32F). Started snowing on the back. Honestly it was pretty nice and brisk. Give me a toque and mitts and I'd do it again in a second.
It did take me a half round to warm up so I went 51-42, which is right around what I shoot anyway so I can't really blame the weather.

I was good from 50 to 100ºF (riding).

And it doesn't really reach 100 in the Boston area.

I'd play with my league in early spring if it were under 50,

but I wasn't happy about it,  even a little.

And I'm not a stoic.

When I'm not happy, everybody knows about it.

You probably didn't realize that.

Jawbreaker size hail, wind blowing more than 30mph, sideway rain and above 125* heat. I actually love playing in bad weather conditions, if and when it rains I usually find a reason to be on the course playing and practicing.

There are so many things that you are not suppose to do when playing in wet conditions and regardless of how much you read and memorize the do’s and don’ts when it show time everyone mess it up at least once or twice. Furthermore, regardless of how highly us golfers thinking of ourselves, we are not only slow learners but even slower to make and accept changes that’s why most golfers appear stubborn :)

We're fortunate here in the south to have milder winters than our friends to the north. That being said, I'll play until the weather drops below 40. After that I have to layer up so much that it restricts my movements. I'm also not a fan of playing in the rain, either. So, I do lose some rounds in the summer because some years it rains a lot.

Snow. That is usually when the course closes. To enjoy golf you can pick 2 of the 3. Wind, Rain, Cold. When it gets to all 3 it becomes a little bit more of a challenge to go out to play. Its never stopped me from playing, but on those days you can't get in to the clubhouse fast enough.

I’ve played in all conditions, below freezing to 100° plus. I don’t even mind a short rain. But when the course gets too soft, I lose my enjoyment. I was supposed to play in an individual tournament today and tomorrow and a team event on Monday. We’ve had almost 30” of rain in 40 days. Although today is sunny and 70°,  I withdrew from the individual tournament this morning, but will still play Monday.

So mud is the condition I hate the most.

This reminds of my favorite “joke” that i created its a conversation between two friends and goes like this.

This call takes place in A northern climate in early March after a long cold winter.

Rick: Hey buddy, the forecast says its going on hit 50 as a high tomorrow, wanna get out somewhere and play??

Tom: You know it!! Make the time, ill be there!!

Same two friends almost 8 months later in November.

Tom: so you wanna play golf tomorrow?

Rick: Hell no!!! It's only going to be 50 as a high!! Not for me. I'm done for the year.

The same temperature can be a real matter if perspective.
