interesting video.   The theory makes sense.

Does anyone here do this in their swing?

Not a crazy their at all. Pretty much the most popular technique on the PGA tour and elite players. Even Mark Crossfield talks about this in his videos.

Butt of the handle actually moves up and to the left while club head swings down and to the right. It's all about proper weight shift and sequencing

I watched this video the other day and the information provided certainly seems accurate. That said, I'm not sure if I'd practice this way. Seems like you could easily injure yourself just swinging the sledge hammer like that.

I certainly try to.This picture from the article linked below was what I bookmarked to try and visualize the method. It felt strange at first. I think the flatter swing plane has helped my contact consistency off the tee more than add swing speed though. Not because the method doesn't add swing speed, but because I'm trusting the form more than over swinging trying to smash the ball.

He does other videos explaining this, it's what I'm solely working on at the moment.

BTW, he's the only online videos I watch, I trimmed it down due to information overload and he explains things very clearly. I'm considering buying into his system.

I'll look into this as well.  thanks.

he has a great swing and I noticed how slow and rythmic his swing was and he effortlessly hit his drive 300 yrds.

Boy that first swing he talks about and showed sure looks familiar.

Thanks for the video Har, I am going to have to look into his videos some more this off season.  With no pros around my area to work with, I am hoping to find something to help refine my driver swing.  I am mainly looking for consistency as I am long enough for my home course but I will take a few yards if they are there to be found!

I'm not a member yet, thus far it's been cherry picking articles and lurking. It's one of three golf sites I check with any sort of regularity. It has some really solid info, but also its fair share of click bait. I've been debating joining later this fall and if I do I'll report back on my experience.

Definitely worth perusing the blog if you have the time.

Stealing another picture from there (from https://www.adamyounggolf.com/4-routes-better-golf/) - they consistently takes a concept (this one is repeated a lot everywhere but it shows my point), and convey it in a way (often time graphics) that directly connects it results on the course.

  • 4 weeks later...

What Clay Ballard failed to mention is that Sasho Mackenzies findings (ie. vertical ground force reaction to increase clubhead speed) didn't apply to  'rear foot' golfers like Justin Thomas.  That is , their COP actually moves towards their rear leg into impact and not onto their front leg.

PS. It's been estimated that 1/3  of golfers that were used as test subjects in a research experiment were found to be rear foot golfers.

Look at graph below where at ball contact it looks more like 50:50  weight pressure for rear foot golfers.BallWeighShiftOne.jpg
