Swingspeed correlation from irons to Driver

I see many posters who have about 112mph+ swingspeeds with driver and about 90mph with 6 or 7 iron.

I swing consistently 90mph with 6 iron but also consistently 101mph with driver. What am I doing wrong or is there no science to it and I just cant get past 101mph with driver?

interested in any theories or reasons there should be such a big gap?

I have about a 12 MPH gap between the driver and 6 iron and I see the same thing you see from others.  Maybe it is an individual thing?  I know I'm no help in answering your question but at least you're not alone.

It means you have an inefficient driver swing.

The typical difference between 7 iron swing speed and driver is around 80% for someone has an efficient swing.

Based on your 6 iron swing speed, your 7 iron is probably around 88 mph, which means that your driver swing speed should be around 105 or so.  No telling exactly telling where you are missing out on the extra MPH unless you were to work with a coach who has some tech like gears or Kvest to break down your two swings

Any chance of arguing that we have extremely efficient iron swings?

Good try wedgie, good try. :)

It's not as if you guys are that far off - I wouldn't sweat it.

Driver: Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  R flex   - 44.25

Fairways:  Ping G410 5, 7, 9 wood  Alta CB red 65 R flex

Hybrid:  Ping G410  26 degree  Alta CB Red 70 R flex

Irons: Ping G430  7-PW, 45, 50 Alta CB black 65 soft R flex

Wedges:  Ping 195 S54, E58

Wedges and irons are - 1/2” and one degree flat

Putter: Sacks Parente Duke 32.5”

Ball: Titleist Pro VI or Callaway Chrome Soft X ls

While not at the same time I was fit for every club in my bag as well as the Pro VI ball. I use the chrome soft x ls on my league course.  It has much softer softer greens than the club that I belong to.

I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67.
