Has MGS been reformatted?

Recommended Posts

I am not the most computer savvy person in the world I have noticed after the site was off line for a short period that the format has changed some. Actually I like it.

My question is  Why does some funny little symbols appear in some of the comments? I do not have any of those symbols on my computer and can not see where they are doing anything but annoying me when trying to read a post. I also see we do not have a signature or equipment list at the end of our posts either. No problem just curious

Looks like a new format to me as well.  A lot of text in posts looking like hieroglyphics .  On the plus side, the new emoji window offers a potpourri of fun options! 😃

I thought it was a matter of first using the tablet. Same new format on the desktop. Not sure yet if I don't like it, but leaning that way. Seems less intuitive to find previous thread activity than the previous format.

I like it.  Took a me a little to figure out how to get to the unread content, but once I got it set up it looks great

This doesn't work for me.

Very disappointing.

That's because we're old codgers who don't embrace change. 😉  Other than the odd text, too early for me to decide.

There's no way jlukes isn't going to like it if I hate it!

I have a feeling that you'll be liking it more and more,   j.

It's a much less convenient format for me.

Then again, I don't play golf anymore.

Probably time to go lurking someplace else.

How is it less convinient? It literally has the same ways to view the forum as the previous version, with even more ways to sort/filter.

Don't do that.  Like a new putter or driver, just give it a little time.

Heard rumblings that something was coming -- change is inevitable, especially as we approach 100,000 members. We're still a ways away from that, but it's the way of the web - evolve or die!

And is sure looks a hell of a lot easier to attach a picture!!!

What course is this?  Get a load of that rock pile will ya!  Hopefully the course is not on top of a major fault line. 😲

Redlands Mesa in Grand Junction, Colorado - par 3 17th taken from the tee box. It's DEFINITELY worth the trip. 😎

Mobile app hasn't changed yet. Will have to go to the desk top and see what all the hoopla is about. Then again 95% of my time on forum is thru the app. I should be ok lol

I'm poking around like everyone else (desktop version). Made a post to see how that works. Kind of surprised MGS didn't make any mention to their 100,000* members prior to launching this. Oh well, I'm sure over a little bit of time we'll all fall into the routine.

Is there a central Post/thread specifically for the new Forum as I'm sure there will be many questions, etc?

Next steps to my road to improvement
      Current
Adding the Mizuno MMC FliHi 4 iron to the bag once it comes it to replace my hybrid. The hybrid has too significant of a draw bias, not terrible, but I also draw the ball naturally already, and will probably go in and out of the bag, but I'm looking for better shot shaping with the FliHi and have that 210 to 225 distance into the green and off of the tee. Working on my putting. I'm rolling the ball nicely now with a slightly open stance with my current putter. I have another putter that I can get the ball rolling online, but the pace is off. Future step is to actually get fit for a putter. Working on my natural tempo and swing speed for the driver to have more consistent drives. See below for more info. Next
Driver shaft optimization. Not looking for a new head yet. I like my 2017 M1 460. Interested in the journey of testing some shafts. Right now my shaft is determining what kind of shot I can do. Slower speed and tempo than my natural speed and tempo. This has lead to a great deal of inconsistency of trying to find the "magic speed and tempo" and I know that isn't the way to go. Swing speed training. I'll have multiple shafts at this point so I can game whatever is best fitting me as I go along. And I can always swing a little slower or club down to hit a fairway. Future
Get fitted for a putter > get fitted for a driver/shaft and woods from a high level, reputable company willing to discuss numbers and takes the time and right approach. Open to custom shafts and not just from the OEM cart like at a Golf Galaxy. I have only been fitted to a driver once, but didn't purchase as I did not like the experience, small selection of shafts, and I wasn't swinging my natural speed and tempo like I should have.
