Has MGS been reformatted?

Recommended Posts

First sub-forum change is starting off with a softball.  "Suggestion Box and Site Issues" is now "Forum Central" with the following structure:

FORUM CENTRAL

  1. Staff Announcements
  2. Suggestion Box
  3. Bugs and Site Issues

Will work to distribute the threads where they belong over the next few days.  If you keep your eyes peeled, there may be an announcement very soon.  Moving forward, we'll continue to restructure the sub-forums in a manner that makes sense.  For now, we're just brainstorming but the "Reviews" section will likely be the next candidate for change.

Stud,

In case you didn't see my comments in the lefty thread - here's a quote in response to John Smalls:

"John, I'd like to see it as a separate category under Forums drop down menu  which would require a bit of programmer intervention. Another option would be under 19th Hole as a sub topic.

Mod's with lefties representing 10% of the population and MGS at 76,000 members - that could engage over 7000 members plus appeal to all the other left hand golfers that are currently under served by the online golf communities" .

I think the limit was higher around 100 before the forum update. After the update, it knocked down but I just made that unlimited because why not? cksurfdude has a fun post/thread about hitting the limit here:

..........

Aha! Challenge accepted .. I'm going to make it a rainy day project to see if I can hit the new "Likes" limit!

Post up some good stuff, guys

Has "Recent Content" recently replaced "Unread Content?"

I'm more used to complaining than approving, but I like it.

With "Unread Content,"  I always toggled from "unread" to "everything."

Not crazy about how under recent content it now shows every new post instead of just the thread that has new post.  I can live with it though 🙂

I just noticed that as well - wonder if it's a programming glitch

That's a setting that was unintentionally set that way.  Should be fixed meow.

In the Reply Window when typing a response, is there a way to Indent a paragraph?

We used to have a button to do that, but it seems to be missing.  There is room to add it.  The only options are Left... Center... and Right Justify.  Who uses Right Justify??

There is now

Check it out

On your toolbar

The indent level can be

Moved left and right

Right align for psychos has been removed 😉

Hey Mods,  I'm liking the additional details on this new platform: birthdays on the right sidebar along with most popular and member statistics. 👏👏

EDIT: Also the 'who's on line" I just spotted that!

Just looked at that myself- I see theres over 100 'guests' browsing the forum right now. Is there a way to attract these 'guests' to register I wonder? a pop up (we all hate pop ups lol) when they move around the site inviting them to register with the carrot of being in the MGS draw for whatever item is in the MGS draw that month might work?

Just a thought.

I like that too. I'm not sure if it was an option before, but I've only noticed it now since the reformat. The border boxes are totally customizable and it's really easy to do so. It's a smaller background feature but score one for the new platform!

There is.

It's not a pop-up but it sits around the border above "who's online." It's just invisible to guys who have accounts so you won't see it unless you sign out.

You're right though, we've gotta work hard to get those guys to actually click on it and set up.

Next steps to my road to improvement
      Current
Adding the Mizuno MMC FliHi 4 iron to the bag once it comes it to replace my hybrid. The hybrid has too significant of a draw bias, not terrible, but I also draw the ball naturally already, and will probably go in and out of the bag, but I'm looking for better shot shaping with the FliHi and have that 210 to 225 distance into the green and off of the tee. Working on my putting. I'm rolling the ball nicely now with a slightly open stance with my current putter. I have another putter that I can get the ball rolling online, but the pace is off. Future step is to actually get fit for a putter. Working on my natural tempo and swing speed for the driver to have more consistent drives. See below for more info. Next
Driver shaft optimization. Not looking for a new head yet. I like my 2017 M1 460. Interested in the journey of testing some shafts. Right now my shaft is determining what kind of shot I can do. Slower speed and tempo than my natural speed and tempo. This has lead to a great deal of inconsistency of trying to find the "magic speed and tempo" and I know that isn't the way to go. Swing speed training. I'll have multiple shafts at this point so I can game whatever is best fitting me as I go along. And I can always swing a little slower or club down to hit a fairway. Future
Get fitted for a putter > get fitted for a driver/shaft and woods from a high level, reputable company willing to discuss numbers and takes the time and right approach. Open to custom shafts and not just from the OEM cart like at a Golf Galaxy. I have only been fitted to a driver once, but didn't purchase as I did not like the experience, small selection of shafts, and I wasn't swinging my natural speed and tempo like I should have.
