End of Season Blues

That's me played my final qualify competition of the season. Autumn is upon us, the clock go back next weekend and I reckon my home club will go onto the shorter winter course in a couple of weeks, sigh.

For me it has come at the wrong time, I've found a swing that is working and my handicap has dropped by 1.5 in the last 3 weeks. But C'est la vie.

I like to reflect back at this time to see how my season has gone.

• Handicap started 8.3 finished 7.1
• Won one medal and came 2nd in another 2.
• Played Turnberry Alisa course for the 1st time.
• Competed in Golf in Scotland for the 2nd year and fell 10 points short of qualification for the finals in Turkey
• Had some great golf in Tenerife, Benidorm and Lanzarote

After an injury season last year this year has been a big step forward. Roll on 2019.

Same here.  Yesterday was the first day I didn't sweat through everything I was wearing on the golf course.  I love fall!

For us Florida players, this is the beginning of the annual 'great northern migration'. Where the days get shorter, and the queue at the first tee gets longer as the tee sheets fill up with winter visitors from the colder climates.

I'm more than likely done for the year, too, although last year I got out on black Friday because it was unseasonably warm. We'll see.

I think there may be one more round somewhere for me, then I'll be hibernating with @MaxEntropy until I hit @fozcycle and @revkev in March.

I feel like my last official round was this past Saturday. There may be some quick 5-6 holes after work on a warm fall day, but not likely. Range stays open all year, so there’s a plus.

BTW don't stop playing in the winter, just layer up. Last year on 29th Dec

Dormant bermuda turns to hardpan in front of the green, which makes chipping an adventure. My scores definitely go up in the winter.

Also, and I don’t know if they will be doing it again this year, but they usually overseed the green with rye in the winter, making putting a different adventure.

No doubt course conditions change but 20 more yards for me and very little rough make it much easier. At least for me.

Ha! I don't think I've seen 10 yards of roll on any shot this year. It has been so wet and the course I play doesn't have the best drainage system and is fairly low lying. 

It is only a 6300 yard course but plays like 6700 based on lack of roll and a ton of doglegs that require layups.

I’ve just hit my first cold golf day here in jersey. The temp wasn’t even that bad the wind cut through my lack of layers

I have two tee times this weekend.  My club hasn’t informed us of when they plan to close, but two of our pros are heading down to FL tomorrow, so it won’t be long...

I'm really behind in planning our annual winter golf trip. The last two years we went to World Woods in late January... Maybe we’ll try something new this year.
