tony@CIC
I've always played with white golf balls, but bought a doz yellow on a lark. Playing by myself today I launched a couple into the rough and they were impossible to find with Fall leaves on the ground. Anyone else use yellow and if you do why. deauxrite
Callaway Chrome Soft Truvis balls (black and yellow) for me. I love being able to see the spin on the ball as I hit it. I also find that it is easier to find in our local desert conditions..yellow tree leaves not being much of a problem here. Mr. 82
I have a buddy who plays the Snell Get Sum Optic Yellow ball, and won't play anything else. I was at his house on Sunday and we were talking about golf balls, and he literally hands me a brand new dozen of another ball and tells me he won't play them and that I can have them. These were a 4 piece ProV1x equivalent ball. I've tried to give him some other brand of ball, and he won't touch them. And he won't play anything but the yellow ball. I think it's for two reasons. First off, he says he can see them a little better, and the other reason is because he says everyone else plays a white ball, so it's a way of easily identifying his ball from everyone elses. What's wierd with my buddy is that we are about the same handicap now, and he regularly beats me, and he says he prefers the spin and the feel of the 2-piece yellow ball he is playing versus anything else. I mean, as long as he is happy, what do I care, right? I think it's strange to prefer a 2-piece ball, but to each his own.Personally I've gone back and forth between white and yellow, and I'll play either one. I had clubhouse credit from a tournament and I picked up a dozen Srixon Q-Star Tour in yellow, so I'll get to play those eventually. I was playing the yellow 4-piece balls that my buddy didn't want the last two days, and he also gave me a dozen Titleist AVX yellow for my birthday that I was playing in a few tournaments recently. So I guess the longer I get to know him the more likely it is I'll play yellow balls, as he keeps giving those to me.I found a Vice ProSoft lime green ball the other day and I kinda liked how that color stood out, and I'm tempted to get the Vice in the red color that they offer, but with all of the golf balls I have in my stash it may be another year or longer before I need to buy more golf balls, as I just don't lose them very often. Frankly, I wear them out before losing them most of the time. Cart paths ruin more of my golf balls then me losing them. GB13
I'll play any color except blue or yellow that got too close to green. I can't find blue or yellow-green ever. I'll hit it in the fairway and still somehow lose it. During the fall here, orange and yellow are barely playable, that is unless you want to use 20 golf balls in a round. In the summer though, I will play orange and yellow. Canucklehead
I prefer white and have never had an issue with losing sight of it so don't see a reason why I'd change. If I were to order from Snell or other direct to consumer I might try another colour. Does anyone know if you can order one dozen of a certain colour and the rest of your order be white (from any DTC)?My dad loves orange so every couple of years I'll buy him a dozen for Christmas. Kor.A.Door
If you think finding a white ball versus the optic yellow balls is easier because you can see them better you may want to have your eyes checked. I play the Truvis black and yellow, all four of us will hit the ball in the fairway, the only ball that you can see from the tee box is the yellow one. I don’t get how anyone can visually see a shot ball over an optic yellow ball, they are made so you can see them better. In the winter in Bermuda you can’t see the white balls at all, the yellow ball stock out like they glow. Kenny B
I play white balls most of the year. My wife plays yellow balls. I don't have a problem seeing either one during the summer, in the sky or on the ground. However, in the gray inversion days of winter the yellow ball is a lot easier to see. I will be switching to yellow in about a month. There is another reason to play yellow balls at my course. Although I see a few different colors being played now and then, most players at my muni play white balls. Course design and lousy golfers means that balls end up in adjacent fairways. This year I had to chase a guy to the next tee when he hit my ball in my fairway. By the time I caught up to him, he had teed off and put my ball in the water. I was playing a brand new original KSig with a big red T on it; how did he play a par 5 and tee off on the next hole and not notice he had the wrong ball? He apologized and offered me one of his brand new Top Flites. That has never happened with my wife's yellow Z-Star. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
