Titleist TS2 & TS3 Driver Thread

But pretty much every driver I’ve ever played has always been 1*-2* open, even way back to TM Tour Burner TP. Anything that is square, looks closed to me. TS3 would be a better option for me to try.

Have you ever hit the Mizuno MP650? Sits open and even for me it was a bomber.

It's amazing how two eyes can see something different. As someone who misses left I could never game a driver that looks closed to me. Love how square the TS2 sits to my eye

When I first sat the TS line down and looked at it from address I thought the TS3 looked really square, and like there was no loft on it. In the sun at my fitting, I saw the TS2 as being square, and the TS3 looked like it sat open.

I had my fitting today and got to throw the TS2 up against a bunch of other heads.  First thing was first - it was clear right away that the Evenflow White shaft was no good for me.  I swing too hard and and the Evenflow just does not mesh with my transition at all.

We tried a bunch of different heads in different shafts and one shaft kept coming to the top and that was the Fujikura Atmos TS Black.  It just felt like it meshed with my swing whether I was swinging easy or going after it.  When we put it in the TS2 head, it was absolutely a match made in heaven for me.

I averaged ballspeed in the low 160s with a launch angle of 14 degrees and spin around 2500.  This gave me a nice stable flight and a beautiful high draw with average carry right at 270ish.

I am still working on my swing changes and the beauty of this combo is that that it held up to my bad swings (which would carry in the low 260s) and when I was all in sync I was touching the low 280s in carry!  I even touched 164 ball speed!  I absolutely cannot wait to really groove my new swing and hopefully start hitting the upper 160s in ballspeed by the time the golf season rolls around!

Great stuff, I’m with you on the Fujikura shafts. For me it was the pro 2.0 tour spec in a 79 gram actually which I found a bit odd but hey, you can’t argue the results. Looking forward to hear how the new combo plays for you. Did you already get the shaft or do you have to play the waiting game?

We found the shaft on ebay (the fitter is a buddy of mine, so he helped me look) so it should be here early next week.  My fairway wood shaft should be in towards the end of next week

I have been playing the TS3 for about a month and a half. Love it and get noticeably longer distance. Let me step back to my Titleist fitting. I took my old driver with me for a direct comparison. Old driver is a R11s to out to 47". With the TS3 my club head speed increased by 7 mph. My ball spin dropped from about 4,500 to 1,900. Ball flight is perfect. I even gained directional control.

So I just had a driver fitting at my local range and the TS3 9.5 degree came out on top.

launch angle was between 10 - 13

Spin rate was 1700 - 1900

Carry was 270 yards

65g S flex shaft

This is a stunning looking club at ball address and gave me the confidence to go after it.

Is the carry distance really 170 or is that a typo?

Better dispersion and similar distance for offcenter hits (as well as that great Titleist driver sound) is what I gleaned from the hour I had with a TS2. I found the TS3 just looked closed at address to my eye even though I play a 910 D3 which looks neutral to 'slightly' open.

I agree with you on a slightly closed face.  I had to get used to mine a bit and get over the feeling that it will go left every swing (or right for me since I'm a lefty).  One of the biggest mistakes I made was giving up my 910 D2, I'm sure the D3 plays fairly similar.  Honestly since 2016 when I sold it, I've been trying to get back to those driving stats.  I bought into the new drivers being better and they really just weren't.

I appreciate it, but I've moved to a TS3 this year with a proper fitting and I think they will be better than ever this year.  Also, I'm a lefty so that's always an issue.

I too have the lefty struggle... The TS3 is a great driver though. Definitely great ball speed. a heavier shaft seems to hekp me control Titleist drivers better. Will need to try it out at a demo day soon!

I bought a used TS2 from a local shop. One of the guys who works there had bought it and hit it for one round but didn't like it (good for me I guess lol). They let me swap the senior flex shaft out for a Diamana stiff shaft for free. I took the shaft but I like my old Aldila Rogue shaft better and is what I'm currently gaming. I hit both the TS2 and my 915 D2 driver just to compare numbers (I was skeptical that the new driver would be that much better).

My ball speed with the 915 was on average 130 with a total distance on average of around 250. The TS2 ball speed was on average 140 with a total average distance of around 260. The spin rate on the TS2 was quite a bit lower. My 915 was a 10.5 head and the TS2 was a 9.5 head. I felt like I didn't have to swing as hard to get comparable/better distance with the TS2 which was a determining factor in buying the club. I didn't feel like there was much difference in forgiveness between the two.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with the TS2 driver.

The TS lineup is by far the best Titleist has put out since ... well ... forever!  Take it from me who has had Titleist clubs since uhh ... forever a go.  So I have a lot of models to compare 🙂

The ball just seems to jump off the face, hotter, & easier to hit.  For some reason the 3W especially so.  It sets up so nice behind the ball & just exudes confidence.  I can't wait until I get more time to play with them.  I only have a few rounds honestly with them since my surgery.

The correct shaft arrived this morning, so I took the driver to the range today. Maiden launch was REALLY good! I was hitting the balls dead straight, to a small fade, which is what I’m trying to accomplish!!! So good! Heading to the course in the morning.

Got to play nine today just North of San Antonio at an “ok” course. I warmed-up with a small bucket and couldn’t understand why I kept cutting the ball really bad with the TS3... Got to the first tee, big cut... 2nd tee, big cut AGAIN. I pulled the 4g weight out and realized I had it in the toe and not neutral!!! Switched it and proceeded to murder the ball! The rock-hard fairways helped me hit one 323, and one 318. Fun stuff! I’m liking this driver!!!

Played a full 18 today, not keeping score. No range, so teed off cold. It took me a good 8 holes to get things going, and once I did, this driver continued to impress me. On 18, I hit a bomb exactly where I was aimed, taking advantage of the wind. I’m a happy camper at this point!

Played my first two rounds with my TS2 last week in FL.   After some initial work on fixing s swing flaw that had crept in, I drove the heck out of the ball.  Played with our Superintendent who is usually 20 yards past me.  Was toe to toe worh him on most drives.   And mosf importantly right down the center!!

He hasn't received his Ping yet 🙂

Oh so the TS2 could still beat out the Ping.

I see a lot of testing in his future.  But hey, he does work on a golf course.  So he's got the time

If it is as accurate as you were hitting the Bridgestone with more length, that baby would be a keeper. You were automatic when we played in Columbus.

Yeah, very early returns are it's longer than the Bridgestone and just as accurate, however we were playing on some pretty wide fairways.  So getting it on my course will be a true test.

Then the G410 will be arriving within the next week.  So it should be quite a "shootout" good thing I'll have Mr.Trackman around to help with his input 🙂
