Grame McDowell Joins Cleveland/Srixon

So what do you guys think of the move?

 

Would you rather have Player Of The Year - Furyk (or) Hot Of The Press G-Mac as the face of your brand?

Personally, I would rather have McDowell. At the moment I feel his is the more popular of the two. Not to mention the fact that he has a few more years of his career left than Furyk, which would mean more positive exposure for the brand than Cleveland/Srixon would have gained from signing Furyk for a few more years. Like i said, I'd take G-Mac right now, even though I'm mad at him for beating Tiger

In terms of the American market, I'd take Furyk. McDowell had a great year, but Furyk is one of the best known golfers on tour. I'll revise my opinion if McDowell has another great year, or 2-3 very solid ones to back up his 2010.

Agreed. Obviously Cleveland/Srixon are jumping on the success he's had this year and, I'm guessing, paying him more than Callaway

If I just had the year GMac had I don't think I'de be switching things up like this. I know these guys are good but it still can take them some time to get used to new equipment. I'm shocked!

Well, well what a surprise I believed he would stay considering the brillant year just posted, but Callaway are spending so much on Ernie and Phil. But he will also be contracted to the ball.

 

Gmac will be a good signing esp for the European market and because he's Irish the Americans will love him.

Although Furyk is rock solid, I think Cleveland/Srixon did

just fine getting G-Mac. Its all about branding and if G-Mac

continues his high level of play they'll come up aces for sure.

Be interesting to see what he'll play equipment wise, the driver

is real important to him, irons and wedges not much problen, I

would think, but driver and putter?, well we'll see.

I'd be surprised to see them make him play their putter. They usually put a clause in their giving them leniency on putter choice.

I think that this was a solid move by Cleveland/Srixon. I think losing Furyk was detrimental, but the McDowell signing really solidifies their roster. Furyk is obviously more popular in the states, but lets be honest...the euro players bring the headlines and McDowell has been on the top of the world for a majority of the golf season so it brings amazing credibility to a brand that has been struggling.

Couldn't of said it better. I'd stick with Callaway for another year or so. When does this change take effect? He's still all over Callaways website.
