As I was watching the LPGA today, I asked my wife if a sponsor would pay more to be on the left shoulder for right handed golfers? Lexi has Zurich on left shoulder and Puma on right. Being RH camera would be on that left shoulder angle more.

 

Anyone know answer on this?

 

Or am I just that bored today, since it’s snowing?!?!

Interesting question, but I'm not of any help with an answer.

 

It does inspire another question, however.

Are there any prominent pros out on the circuit who choose to not be walking billboards?

That alone would give me a rooting interest in someone.

That’s usually a main sponsor thing. Jordan Spieth is is the same. It hasn’t been until recently that Nike has allowed for other logos to appear on their clothes and it’s very few and far between where you will see it.

Considering that pro golfers are independent contractors and outside of the big names sponsorship money helps them so getting paid to be a walking billboard is what is needed.

Tiger does keep it to a minimum compared to most.


I may be wrong but I want to say Big John was the pioneer in NASCAR branding among Tour players. I could be wrong.

I remember the battle that Lee Westwood fought to allow a second sponsor (UPS) on his PING apparel. PING wouldn’t allow staff to wear secondary logos in the early 2000’s.

And who could blame any of them. If I’m outside the top 50 I would let any Chevy dealer, Private jet charter or watch company decorate my Polo as they see fit.

I would too. The more perks I have to help me continuing playing while chasing that big payday the less stress there is. Don’t want to be on the course thinking what I need to do to get a paycheck each week
