tony@CIC
I'm not a Black Friday shopper, but my GG store just happens to be on the way back after dropping the kids off at the airport yesterday. Bought two long sleeve tops for my wife and a Nike short sleeve shirt. After my $10. Dicks/GG reward and the coupon, total bill was $56. That's equivalent to buying one shirt on sale at our Club's pro shop. A couple of other observations: No one was in the store (it was 1:30 when I stopped in). I felt bad for the employees - everyone was just standing around. Also noticed the new WS Cortex display - driver is priced at 499. The display was almost directly adjacent to the Ping Driver display with the new discounted priced for the 400 and Max. No brainer to pick up the Max and save 150 over the Cortex. Big money
I got some great deals thanksgiving at 6pm at Walmart. The new iPad was $100 off and got some great deals on winter coats and hats. Than I stopped in our local golf shop that opened at 6am Friday. Not even one person in there at 730am.The employees were all standing around looking at each other.Bought some new head covers and 2 dozen pro v1’s.Really felt uncomfortable there as all the workers were just staring at me since they had zero business.I told the clerk that next year they should just open normal times. She agreed Keep it in the short stuff

I'll usually hit up Wal-Mart later in the day just to see if there's still any movies left that I want. I was able to get a couple of them, but a lot of the good stuff was gone. I think the marketing strategy in placing the Cortex next to the Pings was a bad idea. I just think the Cortex should have been featured prominently in order to get people to give it a try. Mr. 82
I don’t normally shop on Black Friday, period, and didn’t buy anything this year, but as fate would have it I was in Atlanta on Black Friday and we had a few hours to kill so I was held hostage by my friend who was driving and forced to visit two different golf stores, including the PGA Superstore, which as I told him as incredibly cruel to me, as he was testing my resolve in willpower in avoiding buying anything. I had never been to a PGA Superstore before and man, that place is nirvanna for golfers. If they don’t have it, it doesn’t exist. I must have tried out every putter known to man during our visit. And like I said after we left, all that proves to me is that I still can’t putt, no matter what putter you stick in my hands. I mean, the putting area was bigger than my house. Insane amount of square footage in that place. I spent a couple of hours in there and don't feel like I got around to everything. I know I didn't, because I didn't even hit the monstrous putting area. My only wish was that they would've had their preowned there, they had moved it due to remodeling.
