Cobra F9 Driver Thread

I don't know how this is going to beat the G400max. But I am absolutely going to try this out. I love my F7 woods/hybrid and wouldn't mind if this found a divider in my bag to call home.  I watched some Australian Youtube reviews on it, they seem genuinely impressed.

It doesn't really matter to me what BD or Rickie play. They could make a Walmart driver look like a magic wand. That being said, I sure love the look, and I'll be hitting them, along with the rest of the 2019 drivers in the spring.
 I could see the average consumer being swayed by them. I really think that Cobra has the 2 of the best players under contract for marketing so I think they will continue to grow their market segment. 

Yep. You hit the point I was making GB. The average consumer is going to be swayed by the color (as it's identifiable ) and two young Milenieal type players.

But yeah I didn't really expect Max or you or anyone else -unkess they are brand new to forums-to say their success with it will make you try it.

Does anyone know if they're doing F9 and F9+ again? With exception to the speed back, the weighting looks to be the exact same as the F8+ with the front and back ports.

If I Remember Correctly, Tony's blog piece said the 9° model served as the F9+ while the 10.5° and 12° served as the F9.

Like [mention=72853]MaxEntropy[/mention] said, I don't really care what pros are playing, otherwise I'd have an identical bag to Tiger's because I'm a fanboi. I've been intrigued by Cobra's drivers since the Cobra Connect challenges the past two years, and [mention=291]chisag[/mention] 's writeup of them a while back, but never got a chance to try them out.

Same here - I could care less what the pros play. I'm more focused on what will help me play better - and oh if it looks great that's an added plus.

That driver in yellow just screams 'play me'.

If I Remember Correctly, Tony's blog piece said the 9° model served as the F9+ while the 10.5° and 12° served as the F9. 

Correct. 3 heads. 9* is the lower spin model.

One universal loft sleeve now with + and - degrees rather than the actual lofts.

Just re-read it, you're right. Interesting you can play the F9 at move the weight to the front if you need to knock some RPMs off potentially? Whereas the F8 (non+) was unable to due to the 2nd weight port being in the heel to help keep things straight. IDK about everyone else but I'm digging the white head way more than the Lambo yellow (matches the MGS bags/headcovers too).

I know "we" as avid forum readers aren't usually swayed too much by tour use.  But I can tell you the average Joe consumer who really only gets his or her exposure to equipment from TV and the major magazines, definitely is based on the comments we here in the pro shop. 

 

... I am not swayed by Bryce and Rickie's performance, but I am swayed by the fact that Rickie, Bryce and Lexi all put the same new F9 drivers in their bags so fast. That is really pretty unheard of from any OEM. Of course all OEM's signature players do not put new drivers in their bags and those that do, rarely do so immediately. To me that says the F9 is pretty special.

I haven't hit anything Cobra since I'm a Ping/Callaway guy. My G400 LST will stay in my bag for until something really fantastic can knock it out- probably a few years out still. But my 3-wood is an 816 so its almost 3 years old, and the f8s get good reviews so maybe.

Will the F9 be available as a 3-wood soon?

Yeah, the F9 is coming in fairway wood as well as hybrid & irons (including single-length of course).

I’ll stick with my Cobra F8 in Black and Nardo Grey.....but the new F9 looks sexy.

I talked to Cobra Customer Service last night. I was getting replacement sensors for my F8’s and we started talking about the F9’s. He said the driver was bomb. He got 12 mph more swing speed, so they have improved on the F8.

Guess I’ll have to try one before sticking with the F8.......

I've still got the F6 in the bag and it's been treating me fine. I love the looks of the F9 but I'll probably hold off until at least springtime to think about trying it out. Cobra drivers are always a solid buy, no matter the line.

I love the avalanche color. Definitely going to be worth a hit. I didn't love the f8... Well it didn't love me. I tried it and really wanted to like it more but the numbers spoke for themselves and they simply weren't up to par with the ping or callaway. Maybe this year it will be different?

I've not ever tried any Cobra clubs, but have been looking at them more and more ever since they started producing the F6 drivers and forged combo irons. I'm not sure what to make of the new F9 based on pictures. The "speedback" design looks a bit grotesque in some images, but I imagine it'd be far less so in person. I couldn't do the yellow and black though - too flashy for me - I'd have to go with the white.

Shame on me for not paying attention to the Cobra video. I was originally planning on buying an F-8 wood over the winter - Didn't realize that F-9  wood was part of the introduction. I'm going to have save a few more pennies because I MUST have that F-9 wood in yellow!!! Wish I could afford the F-9 driver ( in yellow of course) but just bought that Callaway GBB and I think SWMBO would have a problem with my having three drivers (G-20, GBB and the F-9)

I'd be amazed by 12 mph of ball speed.

One is impressive, one would make it the best selling golf club ever.

He must have misspoke. The actual gain was 1.2 mph on a 120mph swing speed
