Just wanted to share an update.

As some of you might not know, it was November 2017 that I started exercising (again). At that time, I had pain in my right shoulder and nothing was found after an MRI or ultrasound. I had no strength and I could not do a pushup. I could go halfway down but could not go back up. The pain was to severe.

Well, I stayed committed and continued to exercise and some of you put up with my threads about routines and now, one year later I want to share an update.

I am still at it. And...

About a month ago I decided that I was going to do push ups.  They are one of the best exercises for the arms, upper body and mid section.

Well, I am glad to say that I can now do 3 sets of 10. I am not going all the way down to the floor,  but can go about 2/3 of the way down. and most importantly, no pain and I am getting my strength back.  It has me confused as to what happened with my shoulder. The doctor and specialist could not understand why when I raised my arm I felt a sharp pan. Slowly it started getting better and I am glad that it didn't affect my swing and I felt no discomfort during it.

Also I found this great app called Zen Challenge series and this one in particular trains you towards doing 100 push ups.

Good for you bud. It’s easy to get started harder to stick with it. Have any goals in mind?

Thanks. My goals are very basic. I am 54 so I need to increase my flexibility (which in turn will increase my range of motion in the golf swing), increase my strength ( with age comes loss of muscle mass), and my overall general conditioning. But I've always been physically active my entire life and I do it because I enjoy it.

I started using an app for push ups.

Zen challenge series.

Not sure if anyone has heard of this app but they also do it for other exercises. Pretty good app. This is where I am at with the push ups.

I'm up to 63 push ups ( 343 in total)  and I have just figured out the method to the madness of this app.

If you look at this app, it breaks each routine into a total of 5 intervals with differing # of push ups to do for each interval. It starts small and progressively increases. Usually the second interval gets the bigger number as the first prepares  the body.  Each interval alternates between big and small reps.  This app isn't about just getting a person to do as many push ups as possible. This is about building upper body strength and it is working. Now I know why they have arranged the quantities and intervals in the  order that they have. I just completed 63 push ups in the same number of intervals as when I started this app (12 push ups being done in the same 5 intervals). Of course keeping the intervals the same means only one thing. That the reps per interval increases.

Beginning sets were about 2-4 or 5 push ups per interval. Now it is up to 12- 14 per.

I would highly recommend this this app.

But remember, you need to have proper form when doing a push up. Research this. Keep a straight body, hands underneath the shoulders,  and you are on your toes.

And don't worry if you struggle, keep at it and enjoy it.

Thank you for sharing your story!  I really like people who can be their own coaches and train at home or in the park. I admit that I can only do 10 sit-UPS or swim in the pool without a coach. Honestly, I don't have much willpower to train alone, so I go to the gym. But I keep thinking that by reading stories like yours and being inspired by your example, I can train at home. Perhaps one day such a day will come. In the meantime, I want to share that I started taking a course of steroids so I really need a coach to work out the entire muscle group. And I read that after a course of steroids, I will need to undergo therapy to restore my health. If you've heard something about this, pls share your tips. And I would also like to know your feedback about Sarms, I was interested in these drops and I read something about them here https://steroidcycle.org/sarms/. But I would like to hear real feedback.

During quarantine my wife and I worked out from home. I was already in decent shape but the goal started to do 200 push ups a day, no matter the way I broke it down. It could have been 10 20 rep sets, 8 25 rep sets, whatever. By the end of this time at home I could breeze through 200 and started pushing it to 300.

Now we are back in the gym and my chest is so much stronger than before quarantine which I was happy to see. Sadly the back was slightly weaker due to difficulty working it at home with limited equipment.

I'm sorry that you had such an accident with your shoulder, it's always excruciatingly unpleasant and painful. I am glad that you are doing well now and recuperating. It may be that you accidentally bruised or sprained your shoulder and did not notice it yourself, it did not start to hurt immediately, that happens. The fact that it is difficult for you to return to your previous form is normal, you will recover over time. I had a severe bruise on my right hand and didn't exercise at all for several months. It was incredibly hard for me to recover, as if all my strength was gone, I couldn't even lift a 2 kg dumbbell. I decided not to torment myself and to help myself with steroids in order to recover faster. I ordered everything on https://muscle-gear.net I am very grateful to them for a good product.
