Would you pay $50,000 to be Tiger's caddie for a day?

Mr. 82

Recommended Posts

This guy did.  https://golfweek.com/2018/11/28/the-forecaddie-man-who-bid-50000-caddies-for-tiger-woods-in-the-bahamas/

Just my opinion, but it just proves that being rich doesn't make you intelligent.

Quote

A stranger was holding Woods’ golf bag and caddie Joe LaCava was standing just off the tee box. Fearing another good looper had been replaced on a whim, The Man Out Front had to get to the bottom of the situation.

Turns out, LaCava is still gainfully employed. And someone was willing to pay $50,000 to do his job for one day. That’s a lot of cash for the opportunity to work, but who are we to judge?

Woods’ caddie for the day, Jim Williams, ponied up during a charity auction at Tiger Jam back in May and got the full experience Wednesday.

I like Tiger and I think it'd be a neat experience to caddie for him..........for the 4 or 5 holes, I'd probably make it..ha

But I can think of a lot of other things to do with $50,000, like maybe even buy a spot in the Pebble Pro Am or something and a chance to actually play instead of caddying!

People with lots of money make huge charity donations all of the time.

Charitable organizations looking to raise money often have "perks" associated with different donation levels, and a lot even just do auctions on these "perks" in order to raise money. (ie Current charity auctions for Hungerthon https://www.charitybuzz.com/support/983)

So yeah, if i had a ton of money to donate to charity, I would love to do with with the perk of being to caddie for Tiger woods for a round.

Nope, I would not pay that much to loop for anyone.  If I had those kinds of funds, I would make charitable donations directly.  However, if Tiger wanted to pay me $50,000 to carry his bag, even with my age and health, I'd give it a shot.  Perhaps, I would form a caddie team, each member would get $2,500 for each hole they looped.

I suppose if I had that kind of $$ to throw around and needed some fun tax break options, I'd rather play a round with him or a handful of other golfers.  It would be interesting to see a side of these guys most don't.  For instance, would Tiger be inclined to say "Get your putter caught up in your skirt" when I roll one way short? 😀

These "perks" happen so the time and in many levels. The truth, Tiger is a commodity that is used to raise money.

I am a Tiger Fanboy and I still wouldn't pay $50K to carry his bag even if I had unlimited funds.  Why would anyone pay money to do manual labor.  I mean, I hate carrying my own bag for free why carry someone else's and have to pay for the "honor".

As others have said I would rather play with him or someone else or even have Joe caddy for me with Tiger walking and chatting for the round.

Call me stingy but I am not paying someone just to work for them.

After reading the entire article it seems the trip to Bahamas was included right?

Well, if you are donating $50k to charity you probably can afford the cost to travel there. But you would think it was included. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe for Jack, Lee or Gary, but not Tiger. But I wouldn't pay to carry the bag.

Pro-Am's are a lottery draw so you don't know who you'll get paired up with.  Doing the caddie thing was a way to guarantee hanging out with Tiger for 4.5 hours.  I'm with the majority.  I would rather pay the $10k to play and take my chances with who I get.

If I have $50k to donate, I'm donating it to a bucket list course that I can play and enjoy. I'm not paying a penny to carry *anyone's* bag around besides my own.

I suppose if I were at a charity event - auction, and this were on the table and.... if it were attractive to me - I'd buy it. (although $50,000 is a little rich for me) I've been to many such events and seen folks pay for all kinds of odd items or opportunities. (Most are overpriced anyway) But that's not the point of giving at these events. Personally, bidding on and or winning a chance to caddy for Tiger or any other Pro wouldn't be my thing. I also agree, I'd be much more interested in a playing opportunity. Not carrying a bag. But, to each his own.

My Sun Mountain bag currently includes:   TWGTLogo2.png.06c802075f4d211691d88895b3f34b75.png 771CSI 5i - PW and TWGTLogo2.png.06c802075f4d211691d88895b3f34b75.png PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges

That would be something. Making a wrong caddie event where the pros get paired with 5 year old´s telling them the club to hit. That i would subscribe a PPV.
