Universal screws for driver adapters

Recommended Posts

If you mean the screw that actually hold the head to the shaft via the adapter chances are no based on the slightly different torque wrench the OEMS supply. Some are interchangeable but not all.

If you mean to put a PING head with a Callaway tip. I would suggest looking at club conex. They have a system that works on most larger companies.

Driver - 44.5" 5.0 flex 10.5 deg Graphite Design XC 6S GP MCC4+ 1 deg closed

Irons - 5-pw, GW stnd length 5.0 flex same grip 1 deg flat. Type low medium offset cavity back, no diggers

Wedges - 56 and 60 tour grind wedge spinner and mcc4+ grip 2 flat 10 and 8 in bounce

Putter - Makefield VS LH

Ball - truvis

Carried in a Sun Mountain C-130 USA bag - BE PROUD.

HC - LH but 85 is a good number, playing in Ohio.

As an FYI the screw head for Callaway and Ping are identical. We have both and two star drivers are the same, however, what I don't know is the torque different as one is for a wood and the other a driver.

I have a few drivers from different companies. Was curious if there was an easier way to find replacement screws if needed. I’ll have to look at CC more deeply. I remember hearing about their adapters before.

How often are you losing the adapter screws that this is an issue?  I don't think I've ever lost one, or had one fall out.

FWIW Taylormade is a metric M4 screw to match the thread.  The harder part is finding the proper head on that type of screw to fit the torque wrench.

If you just want to have a couple of extra's laying around you can find replacement screws pretty cheap on ebay.

Lol, I’m not losing them. Just was thinking about it and thought I’d put it out there since I couldn’t find any type of answer anywhere else.

To be honest, I don't know much about adapter screws, but it seems to me that this situation can be resolved in two ways. One option might be to try to find a set of screws that match the most common sizes/threads among adapters. That way, you can minimize the number of different screws you need to have on hand. Another option might be to look for tek screws that have self-tapping screws and can work with various materials. They may only fit some of your adapters, but they may be a good option for some. Good luck with your search, I'm sure you can find the right screw option.

No there’s not a universal screw because the manufacturers use different thread pitch and screw sizes. Hence the variable torque ratings.

Have a ton of back-ups in all categories, but there are always 14 clubs in the bag that differ depending on the course and set-up. Bomb and gouge. Yes, I'm a club gigolo.

this will do the trick.

Going to look into this more as I have become a little bit of a tinkerer with shafts and would be nice to do some more head to head combos.

Has anyone used this before?? This thing is kinda blowing my mind to see if it actually works.

Read thru the reviews. Lots of people being forced to give a good rating stars so it’ll stay up with complaints about screws not fitting. There’s no way a universal adapter can exist because of the screw OD/thread pitch alone. They’re all different. I’ve tested several. That’s where different torque values for the torque wrenches come from. Try that adapter if you want but you better be ready with a drill and an ez-out. Couple reviews have snapped screws as their issue

This !

Even the wrench fits the set screw, the actual thread pitch might be slightly different.

You do not wish to mess up the thread because you'll be looking to get a replacement adaptor.
