PMookie
The original Apex were legit, and one of the most widely “fitted” clubs by fitters! I didn’t care for the CF16 as they had “hot spots” and were so inconsistent distance-wise. I’d love to see these be solid and not be for “distance”, but they’ll need to compete with the P790, so I know it’s a pipe-dream. I never meshed with the Apex Pros, either the 2014 model, or the 2016 model.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Driver: Ping G430 Max 9*, Ping Tour 70X Fairway: Ping G425 15*, Ping Tour 70X Hybrid: Ping G425 22*, Ping Tour 80X Irons: Ping i230 4-GW, TT DG X100 Wedges: SMS 50D/54V/58DModus 130 stiff, +1” Putter: EAS 1.0 Ball: Titleist 2023 AVX

Kanoito
Thanks for the info, guys. I read a lot of people had the distance issues, but I didn't seem to find any. Probably cause I never hit the same spot twice Didnt play the original ones, but the CF16 were legit for me. Forgiving, soft feeling... so if the new version can improve it even more... then it's worth the wait... If not, then I'll probably go 919F or a Srixon combo... can't wait for next season! PMookie
Like I said earlier in the thread, the 2014 model was great, the ‘16 not-so-much. I hope these perform like the 2014. I’d hate it if they had hot spots again. Callaway and others have been on the distance kick with irons, so hopefully these could be a set that offer choices of lofts like Ping, or are consistent across the face without lofts jacked 3*. In Feb 2013, as part of a pro am package, I was lucky enough to have the choice of 2 new irons from Callaway the X Forged or the X Hot. I really liked and wanted the X Forged, but had already noticed a slowing of my swing, so I went with the X Hot which were the original in the X Hot line and were very good. Then in late 2013 early 2014 they released the Apex versions and then in fall/winter of 2015 came the CF 16, after that the releases came so fast and furious in the X and Apex lines, they became very blurred.
