Ben Hogan Ft. Worth 15s

Recommended Posts

I am beginning to customize then build my Ft. Worth 15s. I got a great deal on these. They were new/never hit! I removed the original paint fill and am going to repaint them. I bought Red and Blue Lamkin UTx grips and custom ferrules from Cell-parts.net.

I hope so. Finding the 55* TK wedge was like a needle in a haystack. Going to put Nippon Modus shafts in them. Not sure if it will be the 105, 120, or 125 Stiff or X-Stiff. Will figure that out when I get fitted.

If you’re not committed to those ferrules yet I’d highly highly recommend checking out BB&F Co.

They’re pumping out some gorgeous combinations.

Yeah, I looked at them before I ordered the white ones. Thought about getting the “Nantucket Glory” ferrules but for the extra expense, I didn’t love them. Plus, I am going with a red, white, and blue theme with my bag, clubs, head covers, etc.

How do you like the Ft. Worth Hi? I am thinking about going 19* 23* 27* VKTR, then 31*-59* irons? But, might go FTW Hi in the 31* as well.

I’ve never had more confidence in my longer irons. You don’t even need to go vector with these, they’re that easy.

Watch Rick Shiels review them on his YouTube channel. They go up and they go high and they go straight.

How do you go about finding the right shaft for these heads at a fitter?  I am considering getting a fitting to evaluate the C-Tapers in my PTx's, but I don't understand how they can evaluate the right shaft for my heads without a head to try multiple shafts in.

I demoed the VKTR hybrids when I was trying the irons...that thing is great! I was tattooing the 20* uphill into the wind 220 yards!

Two choices...demo the shaft in a very similar iron head and then choose from there or the fitter will have to install/uninstall the different shafts in your clubs as you test using quick set epoxy. I found the PTX to be very similar to the Mizuno JPX 919 Forged/Tour irons. You could use them as a stand in head and then install those shafts in your PTXs.

My wife is from Saratoga. If you need some places to visit feel free to PM me.

Ok. We was up that way last summer. Had my daughter in my profile picture baptised at this big Catholic church in Schenectady, where all my wife's family was baptised. Went to great escape. She made me stop at this place in Saratoga for something called "doughboys"? Wasn't a fan myself. I don't like cream cheese or buffalo wing sauce.

It’s an acquired taste. Being from western New York we put buffalo wing sauce on nearly anything.

Safe travels and good luck with the clubs. Excited to see the final product

Took about a year, but now have officially flipped my bag for the first time. Year before, I began inundating myself in golf knowledge and equipment. Learned how the swing path and club face work together, how to shape shots and have made great progress. Now I know exactly what I'm doing, and most often know why. So far I've seen my handicap drop significantly, (15-17 down to 5-8). Technically at this point, I'm a 5 handicap, but that was one score out of 5 (5, 18 hole rounds. I've played quite a bit of 9 hole rounds) and I believe I'm closer to an 8 realistically. But maybe I'll be lower and near a 5 this year with thMP-18e clubs in my bag fully updated and have more experience with each club.
Updated my driver and 3W shaft as well after getting them last year and I think that will be a game changer and lower my scores by hitting more fairways. Drastically improved my iron game with getting fitted and buying Mizuno MP-18 mixed set. Can shape my shots and get very consistent distances, so I'm pretty excited for this year. Wedge game improved quite a bit too and now have rounded out the SM6 set completely. Also really excited as I've been rolling the new Taylormade TP Black Copper Juno nicely in the basement, and getting very consistent rolls and forgiveness. Never have really been excited about a putter, but the black copper is sexy, and it performs.
Looking to get on simulators a few times this winter, heated driving range a few times, a big golf show to attend, Taylormade demo fitting, and plently of swinging and putting in the garage and basement. Looking forward to early spring and am optimistic for my best golf yet.
