TheWahoo
Through e-mail, I received a request from Titleist to participate in a survey regarding the impact of hitting distance. It opened with: "The USGA and the R&A are studying the impact of hitting distance on the game of golf. One of the considerations is additional restrictions that would result in reduced hitting distance. ......Titleist is working with these groups and wants to understand your perspective." As requested I completed the survey. Initially, it seemed that the questions were to get of picture of me as a golfer--my age, where I played, how much I played, etc. It then got into topics such as my personal perceptions of professional golf and the impact of hitting distances. Followed by questions regarding my personal perspective on reduced hitting distances regarding my play and equipment purchases. Again, while there were multiple questions, in 25 words or less the theme of my responses was that I would not be fond of restricting distance, that it could reduce the enjoyment of the game for me, my playing participation and I would suspect more important to Titleist my equipment purchases. Has anyone else participated in the survey and if so, what was the basic theme of your responses?

revkev
@The wahoo - I think I've been clear throughout that I won't have anything to do with a distance restriction. If the USGA brings it I will no longer play by the rules plain and simple. I will become solely a recreational golfer. I'm 62, I'm scrambling to save any last thread of distance that I once had - I'm busting my hump working out three times a week to try and get my clubhead speed up to 10 MPH less than it was when I was 40. This entire thing is a joke - the evidence suggests that amateur golfers have lost distance over the past five years - so the only issue I see is that we don't hit it far enough. @GSwag - Titleist certainly has an agenda as does the USGA as do I. My agenda aligns with Titleist in this case so I was sure to fill out their survey. They were careful to include a distance loss chart before every question. I thought it was great! djahubes
The more I think about it rolling back wouldn’t be too terrible but only if they rolled back the course lengths and reverted back to old school course designs. Solid semi round balls, wood shafts, sheep cutting the fairways, shirt and tie, 7 yards of wool. You feel me?Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
