HandKrafted...MannKrafted......used a hand-operated mill.........;-)

When Gene laid down the challenge for guys to make a putter using very limited tools, no CNC and not even a manual mill, I bit.

I did the whole bandsaw cutting, grinder rough shaping, belt sander to contour some areas, deburring wheels to clean up my mess, LOL.

I hit a point where I knew that a mill was going to make life much easier. Heck, my mill is also a drill press, so does it count as less than a mill..................;-).

I went with a mallet shape and I look forward to hearing comments. I haven't decided on the shaft attachment, just yet. Hosels are more my style, but a simple single bend shaft would also fit right into a port on the heel of this rascal.

Give me opinions, please.

Thanks,

LaMont in AZ

Sick and twisted for that one for sure. It'd compliment the milling in the cavity nicely.

  • 2 weeks later...

She is welded up and ready for a new double black oxide finish. I am going to polish the face, sole and perimeter of the head, satin finish the topline and top of the flange and call it good.

Let me know what you think and I'll check back as often as I can.

Thanks,
