SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 3, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted March 3, 2010 Just curious about what people carry for snacking on during the round. I have a Nike SQ Tour bag with the insulated pocket. Usually it is G2 and granola bars. Most of the rounds are in the heat of the day and the powerbars that I like melt. Other time I pack "medicine" {2 Guinness tall cans fit perfectly} <_> GolfSpy_SHARK 1 Quote Volvo Intorqueo All the cool kids follow me on twitter: @GolfspyDave If you are not a cool kid, following me on twitter will make you cool... Matt Saternus
I like Kashi bars and/or trail mix. Only gatorade or water to drink. I take golf & drinking too seriously to mix the two. TgJohnson 1 Quote Follow me on Twitter: @MattSaternus

mcbush25
I'm a real big fan of the 1st Tee and 10th Tee bars, but I don't see them that often. When I do I pick up extras to carry with me. Most the time I carry water or Gatorade and granola bars, peanuts, almonds, or something of that nature.
mudfish
on my night league I usually have sunflower seeds... I find that if I have some in my mouth when I swing, it keeps me from clenching my teeth and keeps me more relaxed... When I play 18 its usually a banana to start and a granola bar or 2 throughout... I have started packing sunflower seeds...partly because I love them and I played baseball all my life and sunflower seeds are a must on the ball field. As for them keeping you relaxed, it made me think of the Under Armour ads I have been seeing for their mouthpiece they are selling that involves Hunter Mahan in the ad. mcbush25
Had these at Daly's Sevillano Links course. Liked them, but forgot about them. Thanks for the reminder. No problem! I don't see them often and quite frankly, I haven't seen them in months. I know you can order them online which is what I did last time because I could never find them when I went to the course. SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 3, 2010 Author SPY VIP Share Posted March 3, 2010 I used to also bag a protein shake. Great and quick. Buddies got in my head though, asking if I would like to tee off before or after I finish my Ensure. NGage
I like these things: http://www.amazon.com/Mrs-Mays-Trio-Variety-Ounce/dp/B002HFPW6I I don't have to worry about any melting, stickiness, or gooey-ness issues, full of protein, and good for you. They may not look the best, but they are tasty. They have just enough of a glaze to be a bit sweet, but not too salty or too sweet. I get them at Sam's or Costco. SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 5, 2010 Author SPY VIP Share Posted March 5, 2010 Our usual muni (Haggin Oaks) had a snack bar out in the 9 hole courses that had refrigerated snickers. That was an amazing thing on a hot summer afternoon. They closed the shack to have a mobile cart. No cold snickers on the cart... jamo
The only time I bring food is when I'm playing in a tournament. Usually I have PB&J, a granola bar, or some kind of nut. To drink it's usually water, sometimes Gatorade, although a Diet Mountain Dew really gives a nice added kick at the turn.

SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 6, 2010 Author SPY VIP Share Posted March 6, 2010 Would "eating" a really thick beer count?? Actually you can buy two beers and designate one drink and the other food. If you are still hungry, more food. release
Usually protein bar for me, sometimes switched out with mixed roasted nuts + dry berry, and a banana. Apple ( sliced) is another good source for natural sugar and fiber. Water is always better than any other type of hydration during the round. Of course it'll be different after the round. An Irish coffee in cool weather and microbrew for the warmer days. Sometimes the Happy Hour finger food will fill up the empty nicely, for a few hours. revkev
